The Resident Care Director is responsible for overseeing all clinical operations within the community, ensuring the highest quality of care for residents while maintaining compliance with all federal, state, and company regulations. This role leads the care team, manages clinical systems, and supports both residents and their families through compassionate, person-centered care.

The Resident Care Director plays a key leadership role in maintaining resident satisfaction, staff performance, and overall operational success of the community.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Oversee all aspects of resident care including assessments, service plans, medication management, and infection control
  • Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations related to resident care
  • Lead, hire, train, evaluate, and supervise care staff within the community
  • Coordinate staffing schedules to ensure appropriate coverage and maintain labor within budget
  • Manage and monitor departmental budgets and expenses
  • Conduct resident assessments and monitor for changes in physical or emotional condition
  • Communicate effectively with residents, families, and interdisciplinary teams regarding care needs
  • Support census development and resident retention through quality care and service
  • Oversee onboarding and ongoing training for care staff in accordance with regulatory requirements
  • Ensure proper documentation and compliance with clinical policies and procedures
  • Promote a culture of compassion, dignity, and respect in alignment with resident rights
  • Participate in emergency preparedness, safety drills, and community response efforts
  • Maintain confidentiality of all resident and company information in compliance with HIPAA
  • Report incidents, concerns, and compliance issues in accordance with company policies
  • Act as a clinical resource and leader within the community
Requirements: Job RequirementsQualifications:
  • Valid RMA certification, LPN, or RN license in good standing (required)
  • Minimum of one (1) year of clinical experience (required)
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; nursing education from an approved program required for licensed roles
Knowledge & Skills:
  • Strong leadership and team management abilities
  • Knowledge of assisted living regulations and clinical care standards
  • Experience with assessments, care planning, and medication management
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work collaboratively with staff, residents, and families
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to handle multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment
  • Commitment to resident rights, dignity, and quality care
Operational & Compliance Expectations:
  • Adhere to all company policies, procedures, and attendance standards
  • Maintain compliance with infection control, safety, and emergency protocols
  • Participate in required training, drills, and competency evaluations
  • Report incidents, injuries, exposures, and compliance concerns promptly
  • Ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance at all times
Physical & Work Environment Requirements:
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move throughout the workday
  • Ability to lift, push, pull, or carry up to 25 pounds
  • Ability to assist with resident movement and emergency evacuation if needed
  • Ability to work in an environment with potential exposure to infectious materials
  • Ability to manage the physical and emotional demands of a healthcare setting

  • Must be able to read, write, speak, and understand English
  • Must maintain professionalism and compassion when working with elderly and medically complex residents
  • Must be available for emergency call-back situations when needed
