Pre-Operative Medical Assistant / LVN – Epic Pain Management
San Antonio, TX
Full-Time | Monday–Friday, 8:00 AM – 5:00 PM
Position Summary
This role is part of a dedicated physician procedure team and requires intercity travel within San Antonio to support multiple clinical locations, including our Southside (Briggs), North (Stone Oak), Northwest (Babcock), and Surgery Center sites. The schedule may also include rotating Saturday coverage (typically 2–3 Saturdays per month, not every weekend) based on provider needs.
We are seeking a detail-oriented and compassionate Pre-Operative Medical Assistant or Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) to support our interventional pain management practice. This role is critical in ensuring patients are clinically prepared, informed, and ready for their procedures while maintaining a high standard of safety, efficiency, and patient experience.

- Coordinate and complete pre-operative patient preparation, including scheduling review and pre-op calls
- Perform patient intake, including identity verification, vital signs, and medication/allergy reconciliation
- Ensure all charts, orders, consents, and required documentation are accurate and complete prior to procedures
- Educate patients on procedure expectations, preparation, and recovery instructions
- Maintain accurate, real-time documentation within the EMR
- Support clinic workflow, patient flow, and procedural readiness in a fast-paced environment
- Assist providers and clinical staff with patient preparation and procedure support as needed
- Uphold all safety, compliance, and infection control protocols
- Maintain a clean, organized, and fully stocked clinical workspace
- Complete end-of-day responsibilities, including chart readiness and follow-up coordination
Qualifications
- Required:
- Certification as a Medical Assistant (CMA/RMA) or active LVN license in the state of Texas
- Minimum 1 year of clinical experience (pre-op, surgical, or procedural setting preferred)
- Strong knowledge of vital signs, medication reconciliation, and patient intake processes
- Experience working within an Electronic Medical Record (EMR) system
- Preferred:
- Experience in pain management, ambulatory surgery, or procedural specialties
- Familiarity with insurance verification, authorizations, and referrals
- Bilingual (English/Spanish) is a plus
