About This Position
In this five-day lab course, students perform experiments illustrating the principles learned in PHYS 1103.
This Lab will be offered in Kamloops, BC from May 25, 2026 to May 29, 2026
Open Learning Faculty Members are teaching staff in the Open Learning division of TRU, and the role of the Open Learning Faculty Member is to actively encourage, support, and guide students toward success in their academic studies. Open Learning Faculty Members must be skilled in teaching, fully knowledgeable of the subject matter and demonstrate a positive, open, and caring attitude in all interactions with students.
We anticipate 5 - 10 students in this course. This number is only an estimate and the actual number of students for the course may be greater or less than the estimated number.
We are looking for candidates with a Master of Science degree in Physics or Astronomy. A minimum of 3 years teaching experience (and equipment set-up) in Physics, including lab instruction, is desired. Candidates with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics and supporting evidence of more than 3 years teaching first-year post-secondary physics labs and evidence of creating an outstanding learning environment, may be considered.
The pay for Open Learning Faculty Members varies based on several factors including the number of students in the course, the type of work, the type of course and the number of assessments completed by students in the course. The total pay includes amounts based on hourly rates as well as set dollar amounts for certain types of work.
