About This Position
Beacon Health is looking for an FT Day shift Surgical Scheduler for our Gastroenterology Hepatology Department.
We are seeking a detail-oriented Surgery Scheduler to coordinate surgical procedures and optimize the use of operating rooms, equipment, and clinical staff. This role is essential in ensuring efficient scheduling, accurate patient information management, and seamless communication between physician offices and hospital departments.
Key Responsibilities
- Obtain prior authorizations for procedures as a primary responsibility
- Coordinate and schedule surgical procedures to maximize the efficiency of operating rooms, staff, and equipment.
- Collaborate with physician offices to gather required scheduling information while accommodating physician requests and patient needs
- Assign operating suites, surgical equipment, and time blocks to ensure optimal resource utilization.
- Enter and verify patient demographic, billing, and insurance information in electronic medical records (EMR) systems
- Work closely with the Patient Admitting departments to prevent delays in scheduled surgeries.
- Adjust and reschedule surgeries as needed due to emergencies or unforeseen circumstances
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills in a fast-paced healthcare environment
- Experience with surgery scheduling, prior authorizations, and EMR systems
- Excellent communication skills for coordinating with physicians, staff, and patients
- Knowledge of medical billing, insurance verification, and healthcare administration processes
Education & Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required
- Minimum of 1 year of relevant healthcare or administrative experience
- Applicable professional licensure or certification may substitute for education or experience (if applicable)
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in hospital or surgical scheduling environments
- Familiarity with operating room workflows and healthcare compliance standards
