ICP is seeking a Material Preparation Technician. The Material Preparation Technician is responsible for accurately selecting, measuring, and preparing raw materials based on production formulas. This role requires precision, attention to detail, and the ability to safely operate a forklift. The Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring production quality by following recipes, using basic math skills, and prioritizing work efficiently.

This role is working at our Lynchburg, VA Buchanan plant. This role pays $20.00/hour.

Key Responsibilities

  • Select and retrieve raw materials from inventory using a forklift.
  • Carefully identify and verify materials to prevent mix-ups, ensuring accuracy despite similar packaging or labeling.
  • Weigh or measure ingredients using scales or liquid measurement tools to match formula requirements.
  • Use a calculator to ensure the correct total volume of materials according to the recipe.
  • Prioritize which formulas to prepare first based on production needs and workflow efficiency.
  • Handle non-toxic chemicals in a safe manner, following proper procedures to prevent contamination, spills, or incorrect measurements.
  • Adhere to quality standards, ensuring that materials are prepared accurately and safely.
  • Maintain organization and cleanliness in the work area to ensure safety and efficiency.
  • Follow all safety guidelines, including proper lifting techniques and the use of personal protective equipment (PPE).
  • Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to coordinate workflow.

Experience and Skills Required
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Experience in a manufacturing or warehouse environment is a plus.
  • Ability to lift and handle materials up to 55 lbs.
  • Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
  • Strong attention to detail to ensure accuracy in material selection and measurement.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Forklift certification or willingness to complete forklift training.
  • Commitment to safety and quality standards.
  • Understanding of safe handling practices for non-toxic chemicals, including proper storage, measurement, and spill prevention.
  • Work is performed in a manufacturing setting with exposure to varying temperatures, noise, and industrial equipment.
  • Requires standing, walking, lifting, and operating a forklift for extended periods.
  • Must be able to safely handle and measure raw materials, including powders and liquids.
