Material Handler at KADON PRECISION MACHINING, LLC – Rockford, Illinois

We are seeking a dependable and safety-focused Material Handler to support our growing manufacturing team. In this role, you will be responsible for safely moving raw materials — including steel bar, plate, and other production materials — throughout the facility using forklifts and other material handling equipment.

This position plays a critical role in keeping production running smoothly by ensuring materials are received, stored, and delivered accurately and efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate forklifts and other powered industrial trucks safely and efficiently
• Move steel materials (bar stock, plate, tubing, etc.) throughout the facility
• Load and unload incoming and outgoing shipments
• Stage materials for production according to job travelers and schedules
• Verify materials against packing slips and purchase orders
• Maintain accurate inventory counts and complete required documentation
• Ensure proper storage of steel and raw materials to prevent damage
• Assist with cycle counts and inventory audits
• Maintain a clean and organized warehouse and production support area
• Follow all safety procedures and OSHA guidelines

• Previous forklift experience required
• Experience handling steel materials in a manufacturing or industrial environment preferred
• Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and work in an active shop environment
• Strong attention to detail and commitment to safety
• Basic computer skills for inventory tracking (ERP experience a plus)
• Ability to read job travelers, packing slips, and material certifications
• Reliable attendance and strong work ethic

Preferred Experience

• Experience in a precision machining or manufacturing environment
• Familiarity with inventory systems
• Understanding of safe steel storage and material identification practices
