About This Position
The Credit Officer plays a critical role in supporting the senior credit executives in their portfolio and reporting responsibilities and in the direct underwriting of business and real estate loans. This position partners closely with bankers and credit leadership to evaluate new and existing relationships and to actively facilitate all aspects of the credit approval process. The role offers meaningful exposure to senior leadership and long-term growth opportunities within banking and credit risk management. Ideal candidates will be adept at learning and using new systems and proactive in identifying and implementing new solutions while working across departments and lines of business.
WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING
- Performing detailed analysis of borrowers associated with new and existing commercial and commercial real estate clients to assess their creditworthiness and ability to repay debt. Analyzing financial statements, tax returns and appraisals to construct global cash flow, conduct stress testing, validate collateral, and ensure compliance with bank policy and regulatory requirements.
- Structuring new loans and restructuring existing ones in collaboration with the private banker, including determining the loan amount, setting financial covenants, and establishing the guaranty structure.
- Preparing final presentations for credit approval working with lenders and risk management professionals to guide transactions through the loan approval process.
- Developing deep subject-matter expertise in bank’s loan origination & credit systems.
- Completing reports associated various risk aspects of the loan portfolio. Interfacing with various outside auditors and examiners.
- Aggregating and managing all lending reports for various management and Board committees.
Attributes and Abilities
- Problem solver, able to both diagnose challenges and solve them efficiently
- Able to seamlessly toggle between independent work and collaborating with a team
- Detail-oriented, organized, and able to handle multiple tasks in a timely fashion
Experience and Skills
- 5+ years of experience in commercial and commercial real estate underwriting and analysis
- Highly proficient with Microsoft Word, Excel, and other financial software.
- Familiarity with other bank software and applications.
Education and Designations
- Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Finance, Accounting, or Economics preferred
