This senior leadership role is responsible for shaping the strategy and execution of enterprise control plane products and ecosystem initiatives. The Director of Engineering will oversee multiple high-performing engineering teams, including managers and managers-of-managers, to deliver scalable, reliable, and production-grade infrastructure solutions. This position drives cohesion across product experiences, partner integrations, and marketplace offerings, while fostering innovation and technical craftsmanship. The role requires close collaboration with product, customer success, and go-to-market teams to align engineering outcomes with enterprise customer needs and business objectives. Ideal candidates will have deep experience in cloud-native infrastructure, distributed systems, and extensible platforms, with a proven ability to grow ecosystem-driven products. The role offers significant influence over architecture, operational excellence, and the adoption of programmable, AI-native control planes.
Accountabilities:- Define and execute long-term strategy for hosted control planes, marketplace, APIs, extensions, and partner integrations.
- Lead multiple engineering teams, scaling the organization to support product velocity and ecosystem expansion.
- Ensure cohesive and enterprise-ready experiences across marketplace, APIs, and extensions.
- Foster a culture of technical excellence, ownership, and innovation across the engineering organization.
- Partner cross-functionally with Product, GTM, Alliances, and Customer Success to translate enterprise needs into scalable platform capabilities.
- Oversee reliability, scalability, and production excellence of distributed control plane systems.
- Represent engineering in executive discussions and drive ecosystem adoption strategies.
Requirements:
- 10+ years of engineering leadership experience, including managing managers-of-managers.
- 5+ years building or scaling cloud-native, infrastructure, or platform engineering products.
- Deep understanding of Kubernetes, cloud-native ecosystems, SaaS control planes, and distributed systems.
- Strong knowledge of APIs, SDKs, declarative systems, and extensibility frameworks.
- Proven track record of delivering reliable production services with high uptime and performance.
- Experience growing ecosystem-driven products such as marketplaces, provider integrations, or plugins.
- Strategic mindset with the ability to dive deep technically when needed.
- Excellent leadership, communication, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
