Summary
The Procurement Manager leads and develops the procurement team and oversees all aspects of SENS’s purchasing operations. This role ensures the effective execution of the material plan, maintaining uninterrupted production flow, and supporting on time customer shipments. The manager is responsible for ensuring accurate purchasing methods and MRP data, strengthening supply chain resilience, reducing material costs, and driving high inventory turns across a diverse portfolio of more than 2,000 stocked components, including electronic components, PCB assemblies, custom sheet metal, castings, cable assemblies, breakers, and other specialized materials. This role requires strong leadership, strategic thinking, and the ability to stay ahead of economic, industrial, and market trends that influence pricing, availability, and risk.
Responsibilities
- Lead, mentor, and develop the purchasing staff to ensure high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement. Establish clear goals, KPIs, and development plans for team members to improve performance on cost, supplier quality, and inventory velocity.
- Develop and maintain a robust supplier base that supports quality, cost, delivery, and innovation goals. Negotiate pricing, terms, and long-term agreements. Monitor supplier performance and lead corrective actions when needed.
- Foster strong cross-functional collaboration with Production, Engineering, Finance, Quality, and Sourcing. Act as escalation point for team with vendors and when problems arise.
- Ensure accurate execution of the material plan to support uninterrupted production and on-time shipments. Maintain optimal inventory levels that balance availability, cash flow, and inventory turnover.
- Analyze and update part usage planning models in MRP system (Infor Syteline). Maintain lead times, safety stocks, demand variability, and other critical procurement drivers to support accurate purchasing decisions and processes.
- Implement best practices in procurement processes, documentation, and workflow standardization.
- Execute and evolve the material strategy, focusing on resilience, diversify and enhance supplier collaboration, improve quality, and shorten lead times. Identify trends, risks, and opportunities for efficiency gains.
- Support with budgeting, forecasting, and cost-reduction initiatives.
- Problem solve and identify opportunities for continuous process improvement and execution of LEAN principles.
Required Qualifications
- 5+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management AND a bachelor’s degree in supply chain, business, engineering, or a related field.
- 10+ years of experience in procurement or supply chain management in lieu of a degree.
- 3+ years of experience managing personnel.
- Experience working with contract manufacturers, electronic components, and manufacturing environments.
- Experience with MRP systems (reporting, structuring data, understanding how systems function).
- Knowledge of lean principles, inventory optimization, and cost reduction methodologies.
- Microsoft Office and strong Microsoft Excel ability.
- Strong ability to clearly set and communicate goals, coach, and develop staff members.
- Excellent cross-functional communication skills with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
- Team player able to coordinate with all company departmental leaders and properly prioritize.
- Strong negotiation, analytical, and supplier-management skills with strong strategic thinking and long-term planning.
- High level of accuracy and attention to detail in all areas.
- Proficiency with ERP systems and data-driven decision making.
- Strong ability to understand and execute multifaceted systems.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with electronics manufacturing or complex assemblies, and certifications such as CPSM, CPIM, or PMP.
- Experience leading teams in a manufacturing environment.
Location: This position is located on-site in Longmont, CO.
Base Compensation: $116,000 - $142,000 is the projected range of annual base salary for this role depending on the candidate’s overall qualifications and experience.
