Summary:
The Quality Control Specialist is responsible for inspecting products manufactured by Benoit to ensure that they meet all established criteria, and that any nonconforming product is identified. The Quality Control Specialist receives authority from and reports to the Quality Manager/Quality Director.
Specific Duties and Responsibilities Include But Are Not Limited To:
- Ensure that the company's products conform to all applicable requirements.
- Understand how to interpret technical drawings and customer specific part requirements.
- Inspect and calibrate measuring system devices and drift mandrels as necessary to ensure that they are within the API and Benoit’s specified tolerances.
- Perform and document a "First Article Inspection" before full production begins.
- Record information on Daily Inspection Log sheets and sign‑off on Work Orders and Router forms to verify those items which have passed inspection.
- Apply their employee identification number on products which have passed the quality inspection.
- Verify that CNC Operators have applied their identification numbers on products they have machined, and that traceability is in place.
- Ensure that only those connections that meet the API Specifications shall be subject to the application of the API Monogram and report unauthorized use of the monogram.
- Remove from service any inspection equipment found to be defective or out of calibration.
- Verify that all measuring equipment utilized for product acceptance displays a current calibration sticker.
- Assist machine operators with lathe set-ups, when possible, to avoid production delays.
- Assist machine operators with gauge set-ups.
- Coordinate with Quality Supervisor/Manager/Director, Machine Shop Supervisors, CNC Operators, and shop personnel to inspect products as required.
- Ensure that any inspection equipment not in use is stored in its proper location.
- Monitor the handling of tubing and accessories, to ensure compliance with applicable procedures.
- Contribute to quality by interpreting and enforcing company quality procedures as needed and by communicating overall awareness of good quality.
- Ensure that all 3rd party standards & gauge kits for licensed threads are properly maintained and returned to the correct gauge box when not in use.
- Performs other duties as assigned by the Quality Supervisor/Manager and may serve as “designee” to the Quality Supervisor in their absence.
- Other duties as assigned by department leadership.
Qualification Requirements:
- Associate or Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Management or related field; or High School Diploma or GED with 3–5 years manufacturing experience
- 1–3 years Quality Assurance/Quality Control experience
- Experience with audits (internal & external)
- Ability to read technical drawings and specifications
- Proficiency in gauge set-up and calibration
- Prior experience in Quality engineering environment
- Proficiency in quality inspection tools and measurement equipment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office
- Strong documentation and reporting skills
- Effective verbal and written communication in English
- Ability to read, understand, and follow written instructions in English
- Sufficient visual acuity to perform job duties safely and accurately
- Ability to work in office, warehouse, production, or outdoor environments as require
Physical Requirements:
- Lift, move, adjust, push, pull, and carry objects to waist height up to 30 lbs without assistance, up to 50 lbs with assistance
- Lift, carry, move, and adjust objects from waist to shoulder height up to 50 lbs without assistance
- Frequent standing and walking for inspections
- Frequent bending, stooping, and reaching
- Frequent use of stairs
- Fine motor skills for measuring and inspecting parts
- Frequent use of copier, printer, phone, and computer
- Use of handheld tools and measuring devices
- Exposure to all outdoor weather elements, temperature extremes, and noise
