POSITION SUMMARY:

The Data Science Analyst supports the quality data management of UW Health Northern Illinois SwedishAmerican Hospital. The position has responsibility for monitoring, analyzing, and reporting physician, ambulatory, and inpatient key quality measures and publicly reported metrics. The Data Science Analyst is responsible for environmental scanning and acts as a content expert regarding quality data and priority measures. This position will require significant skills and experience in data management and interpretation and keeps current on pay for quality and quality metric submissions. The Data Science Analyst will partner with leadership through the organization in the alignment and improvement of quality and safety measures.

This position will interface with data from various quality platforms and will act as a liaison between multiple application vendors, SAHS, IS, clinical operational stakeholders, and Quality Resources Department. Report writing and data analysis, database management, and project management are required functions.

EDUCATION/TRAINING:

Minimum: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Economics, Health Care Administration, Public Health, Informatics, or health related field.

Preferred: Master’s Degree in related Field

LICENSURE/CERTIFICATION:

RN license required if candidate is credentialed in nursing.

Certifications in Healthcare Information, Data Analysis, or Quality preferred.

EXPERIENCE/SKILLS/ABILITIES:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to include the ability to facilitate, mentor, negotiate, and work collaboratively with others.
  • Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
  • Ability to function independently and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Strong computer skills with the ability to manage multiple databases and platforms.
  • Knowledge of hardware, software, data communication, programming and languages.
  • Strong knowledge of quality metrics and hospital quality programs.
  • Demonstrated ability with project management techniques.
  • Ability to analyze and solve complex issues and problems.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to effectively summarize and communicate complex regulatory documents.
  • Ability to initiate and follow-through on complex programs and the use of data to drive duration.
  • Ability to apply quality improvement methods and tools and use the data to drive change
