About This Position

Job Title: Safety Services Supervisor

Department: Security

Reports To: Director of Operations


Summary:

The Safety Services Supervisor is responsible for maintaining the 24/7 safety operations of the Lakeside Chautauqua grounds and promoting community engagement. They will plan, schedule, direct and coordinate activities relating to the protection, safeguarding and security of Lakeside property, employees, homeowners, guests and others; ensure that established goals and objectives are accomplished within prescribed time limitations and fiscal responsibilities; advise, recommend, assist in the formulation of goals and objectives; design, implement and monitor security policies, procedures and programs; comply with federal, state and local legal regulations; and exercise independent judgment in the course of carrying out overall responsibilities and other activities as assigned.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: (To include other duties that may be assigned.)

  • To ensure a safe and secure environment exists within the Lakeside community.
  • Prepares reports and records for review by management team.
  • Evaluates current procedures, practices and precedents for accomplishing Lakeside activities and functions relative to safety services.
  • Identifies and resolves safety related problems.
  • Develops and implements alternative methods for safety operation improvement.
  • Coordinates activities within security area.
  • Coordinate with Purchasing to order supplies and equipment as needed within department budget.
  • Develops preventative programs, including the supervision of safety personnel.
  • Performs audits of safety related performance and conducts physical surveys of Lakeside property, including safety equipment condition (fire extinguishers, smoke detectors, safety inspections etc.).
  • Conducts, supervises and prepares reports relating to internal investigations of any losses or violations of Lakeside Association regulations, policies and procedures; develops, implements and manages safety training.
  • Assists in preparation of emergency management and contingency planning.
  • Serves as Lakeside Association liaison with public law enforcement, fire and other agencies.
  • Directs and coordinates Lakeside Association Safety Committee activities and functions, utilizing knowledge of established policies, procedures and practices.
  • Supervise subordinate safety officers, performing activities such as hiring, training, assigning work, evaluating performance, or disciplining in coordination with HR.
  • Prepares work schedules; assigns or delegates responsibilities.
  • To assist the Lakeside Association staff with any and all support required related to bank deposits, post office runs, etc.
  • Provide assistance to Lakeside Community members and visitors as required.
  • Review daily logs of activities and incidents on a per shift basis and keep and maintain a filing system for this information.

Qualifications:

To perform this job successfully, the individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and hold a valid Ohio Driver's License. Education and/or Experience:

Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, law enforcement, security or a closely related field, four years full-time experience performing supervisory responsibilities or highly responsible work relating to tasks assigned to this position, or any combination of education and experience provided the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be qualifying. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Strong customer service skills required.

Supervisory Responsibility
This position manages all employees in the Safety Services department and is responsible for the performance and hiring of the employees within that department.

Language Skills:

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of the operation or residents and guests of the property.

Mathematical Skills:

Ability to apply the basic math concepts.

Reasoning Ability:

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Physical Demands:

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk;

use hand to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, climb or balance;

specific vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus. Work Environment:

This job operates in a clerical office environment, as well as periodical rounds throughout the Lakeside grounds and worksite. This role also routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. During rounds you will be driving a vehicle or walking the grounds and be able to make quick judgements of safety.
