About This Position

Department Summary:

Aultman is an integrated healthcare system which includes Aultman Hospital, Aultman Orrville Hospital, Aultman Alliance Community Hospital, AultCare, The Aultman Foundation, Aultman College, with over 1,000 active providers and over 7,000 colleagues. The Human Resources Department services all areas of the Aultman Health System.

Position Summary:

The Compensation Specialist is responsible for ensuring the organization adheres to the employee compensation program of Aultman Health System. This includes job classification, job analysis, wage & salary review, merit increase & other salary actions, employee promotion & transfer and incentive pay. The Compensation Specialist works closely with Compensation Analysts and reports to the Director of Compensation. Ensures that compensation programs and practices are in compliance with organizational policies as well as state and federal statutes and legislation.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or related field required
  • 1 – 2 years of experience preferred

RESPONSIBILITIES & EXPECTATIONS

  • Collect and analyze wage and salary data to facilitate compensation management functions
  • Conduct job evaluations to recommend equitable compensation
  • Ensure market competitiveness internally and externally
  • Conduct annual compensation reviews of job levels, benchmarking to formulate recommendations to ensure competitive, cost-effective, and legally compliant compensation programs and practices
  • Participate in third party compensation surveys and provides continuous research with peer companies and external markets
  • Supports and maintain the integrity of all compensation data and compensation systems
  • Identify measures of indicators of system performance and the actions needed to improve or correct system performance, relative to goals
  • Provides compensation analysts and team with input and analysis of data and information.
  • Processes, distributes and collects bonus payments.
  • Prepare reports for internal and external reporting.
  • Research job and worker requirements, structural and functional relationships among jobs and occupations, and occupational trends
  • Maintain personnel records, policies and handbooks
  • Process information in the HRIS system
  • Maintain data within the HRIS system
  • Monitor organizational compliance and procedures.

SKILLS AND EXPECTATIONS

  • Strong attention to detail
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to articulate complex topics
  • Strong analytical research and problem-solving skills
  • Minimum 2 years of relevant experience in employee compensation and/or human resources
  • Experience with Lawson's HRIS
  • Familiarity with compensation software
  • Giving full attention to what other people are saying, taking time to understand the points being made, asking questions as appropriate and not interrupting at inappropriate times.
  • Speaking with others and conveying information effectively
  • Understanding the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.
  • Being aware of others’ reactions, understanding why they react as they do and adjusting actions in the appropriate relation. Proficiency in Microsoft Applications

Working Conditions:

  • 8:00am – 5:00pm M-F or hours as required by the job. Occasional weekends and off -shifts
  • Subject to frequent interruptions and changes in priority of duties throughout the day.
  • Lunch periods and breaks and PTO are coordinated with other staff members to maintain adequate coverage
  • On call coverage is assigned to cover the department schedule
  • Eligible for hybrid work schedule
  • May occasionally visit or work from other locations
