About This Position
JOB SUMMARY:
The Supervising Therapist is responsible for overseeing the clinical services provided by the therapy team at the Weingart Center. This role includes providing direct supervision to Associate Therapists, ensuring compliance with clinical standards, and supporting the mental health needs of residents. The Supervising Therapist plays a key role in fostering a trauma-informed, client-centered approach to care.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS INCLUDE, but are not limited to:
Provide clinical supervision to Associate Therapists and interns, ensuring adherence to ethical and professional standards.
Conduct regular case reviews and support staff in developing treatment plans.
Maintain a small caseload of clients for direct therapeutic services.
Collaborate with other departments to ensure integrated care across services.
Facilitate team meetings, trainings, and workshops to enhance clinical competencies.
Monitor documentation for accuracy and compliance with agency and licensing requirements.
Assist in hiring, onboarding, and performance evaluations of therapy staff.
Stay current with best practices in trauma-informed care, substance use treatment, and co-occurring disorders.
REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:
Strong leadership and supervisory skills.
Excellent clinical judgment and decision-making abilities.
Ability to work effectively with diverse populations.
Knowledge of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and recovery models.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
REQUIRED EDUCATION/TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
Master’s degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling, or related field.
Licensed in California as LCSW, LMFT, or LPCC.
Minimum 3 years of clinical experience, including supervisory responsibilities.
Experience working with individuals experiencing homelessness, mental health challenges, and substance use disorders.
Familiarity with electronic health records and documentation standards.
PHYSICAL AND MENTAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT:
Ability to sit, stand, and walk for extended periods.
Occasional lifting (up to 25 lbs.), bending, and reaching.
Clear speech, hearing, and vision required.
Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-demand environment.
Comfortable working in both office and residential settings.
