About This Position
Job Title: Licensed Journeyman Electrician (Skilled & Trained)
Department: Operations
Reports To: Install Manager
Job Summary: The Licensed Journeyman Electrician (Skilled & Trained) position provides leadership and electrical/technical expertise for commercial and residential solar installation crew of three to six members and is responsible for safety, quality, customer service, and productivity and ensures the successful completion of residential and commercial projects Including Prevailing Wage and Non Prevailing Wage. The Licensed Journeyman Electrician also trains leads and installers on a variety of electrical work focused on Quality, Efficiency, and Safety.
This position requires the individual to possess and maintain a valid Journeyman License(Skilled and Trained) per local and state requirements.
Key Responsibilities:
1. PV Install:
Organizes, leads, and trains crew members
Effectively manages all aspects of PV installs
2. Safety Compliance:
Ensure adherence to all safety protocols and company policies. conduct pre-job safety briefings and site assessments.
Attend weekly safety meetings.
Maintain a clean and hazard-free work environment including work vehicle.
3. Customer Interaction:
Communicate effectively with customers regarding install work, timelines, and outcomes.
Address customer inquiries and concerns professionally.
4. Documentation and Reporting:
Maintain accurate records of service activities, including work orders, materials used, and labor hours.
Submit reports to the Install Manager detailing completed work and any ongoing issues.
5. Inventory and Tools Management:
Ensure service vehicles are stocked with necessary tools, equipment, and spare parts.
Monitor and report inventory needs to management.
6. Collaboration:
Coordinate with other departments to address complex install issues.
Provide feedback to the engineering and installation teams to improve system design and installation practices.
Perform service call when necessary.
7. Training:
Train installers and leads on a variety of electrical systems and troubleshooting.
Stay up to date on current manufacturer training
Qualifications:
• Valid, current Journeyman License required (Skilled and Trained) this must also include graduation from a state-certified apprenticeship program to meet the Skilled and Trained Workforce (STW) requirements.
High school diploma or equivalent; technical or vocational training in solar energy or electrical systems preferred.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in PV solar system maintenance and repair.
Proven leadership experience in a field install environment.
Strong knowledge of PV system components, install/troubleshooting techniques, and safety standards.
Knowledge of NEC and applicable codes/standards.
Knowledge of OSHA standards. OSHA 10/30 preferred.
NABCEP certification or equivalent is highly desirable.
Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.
Skills:
• Excellent problem solving and decision making abilities.
Strong organizational and time management skills.
Ability to read and interpret electrical schematics and technical documents.
Proficiency with hand tools, testing equipment, and software for system diagnostics.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements:
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
Ability to climb ladders.
Ability to work in confined spaces such as attics, basements and crawl spaces.
Comfortable working at heights and in various weather conditions.
Comfortable working on or near high voltage electrical systems.
Ability to operate and drive service vehicles.
Work Schedule: Full-time, with flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and on-call shifts as needed.
