Maintenance Aide at Jones Memorial Hospital – Wellsville, New York

Position Summary Provides essential custodial, janitorial, and hospital courier services to maintain a clean, safe, and operational healthcare environment. A significant portion of this role involves transporting materials, supplies, and items between hospital locations and departments. This position also supports general custodial, facility, and safety functions as directed by the Director of Maintenance and Plant Operations.

Key Responsibilities Performs hospital courier duties, including the collection, transport, and delivery of supplies, materials, equipment, documents, and other items between departments and designated locations.

Responds to departmental requests for custodial and janitorial services; performs routine cleaning and support tasks as assigned.

Collects, transports, and disposes of trash, recycling, and regulated medical waste in accordance with infection control policies and state and federal regulations.

Transports soiled linen to designated areas.

Performs regular facility rounds, including lighting checks and basic bulb replacement; reports maintenance issues to supervisor.

Conducts routine building security checks to ensure entry and exit points are properly secured.

Assists with fire watch and equipment checks per departmental procedures.

Moves and arranges furniture, equipment, supplies, and materials to support hospital operations, meetings, and events.

Assists with groundskeeping and exterior maintenance, including litter removal and seasonal tasks.

Performs snow and ice removal duties, including operation of hand and power equipment as needed.

Performs other related duties as required or requested to support hospital operations.

Minimum Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Minimum six (6) months of relevant work experience preferred.

Licensure/Requirements:

Valid driver’s license required

Ability to safely operate vehicles, including a pickup truck and van
