Pay Range: $25.00 to $30.00 per hour

COMPANY DESCRIPTION
California Bioenergy LLC (CalBio) partners with local dairy farmers, state, and federal agencies, providing a sustainable energy source that benefits the dairy, the company, and actively reduces greenhouse gases emitted to the atmosphere. The company is undertaking the greenfield development, construction, ownership, and operation of a series of projects in the San Joaquin Valley that will capture biogas from dairy farm operations and upgrade it for use in the natural gas pipeline and as vehicle fuel.
JOB SUMMARY
The Digester Compliance Assistant will work under the supervision of the Digester Compliance Manager to provide digester health and performance support for California Bioenergy operating locations to prevent and mitigate derogated production from the dairy digesters. The Digester Compliance Assistant along with Digester Compliance Manager will inspect digesters, conduct required LCRS/Lysimeter pump outs and assist in on-site safety to ensure compliance with company, State, and Federal policies and regulations to ensure California Bioenergy remains in compliance with all governmental regulations. Responsibilities also include documenting survey inspections and results, citing underperforming digesters, recommending corrective actions needed, performing necessary digester repairs, and identifying necessary changes to site conditions and safety performance.
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
- Conduct monthly LDAR surveys of all operational digesters.
- Conduct LDAR surveys on non-scheduled digesters, as necessary.
- Perform LCRS/Lysimeter pump outs adhering to compliance schedule (monthly or quarterly as detailed in permit).
- Strong personal presence at the worksite helps employees learn to recognize hazards and protect themselves and their co-workers.
- Observe task performance to ensure compliance with site and regulatory requirements.
- Document and track inspection results and, along with Digester Compliance Manager, report to Director of EHS any needed corrections.
- Conduct behavior-based safety observations and coach employees as required.
- Adhere to all site PPE requirements and correct any variance from needed PPE by company, visitors, or contractors.
- Enter needed corrective actions in Maintenance.
- Monitor site security during site visits and present any concerns to Director of EHS to be addressed.
- Ensure LDAR equipment is in good running condition and work with Digester Compliance Manager to correct any issues as needed.
- Ensure pump out equipment is maintained in good working order and work with Digester Compliance Manager to correct issues as needed.
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Successful completion of 4 years of high school or equivalent required.
- Completion of LDAR equipment training (can be completed soon after starting).
- Experience in identifying potential hazards and risks and the ability to correct these risks.
- Influential leadership skills sufficient to coach and train employees in the field
- Knowledge of Water Board digester permits.
- Knowledge of OSHA health and safety policies and regulations.
- Willingness to work in the field or from a vehicle more than 90%.
- Ability to anticipate, identify, and evaluate hazardous conditions and practices during task performance.
- Excellent verbal and written communication required.
- Proficiency in Windows-based applications (Outlook, Word, and Excel) on a PC or tablet required.
- Valid driver’s license and ability to operate a motor vehicle in California are required.
- Ability to multi-task, prioritize job duties, and work in a fast-paced work environment.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
- Work locations are industrial and agricultural, primarily outdoors in the Central Valley of California. Temperatures range from forty deg F in the winter to 115 deg F in the summer. Limited exposure to hazardous materials and/or toxic fumes will require the use of approved personal protective equipment. Regular exposure to heat, noise, flammable materials, rotating equipment, and other conditions normally encountered in an industrial environment should be expected. California Bioenergy will ensure all applicable work rules and safety requirements are closely adhered to.
