Beacon Health System is hiring a part-time day shift Physical Therapy Assistant for our ILC Outpatient Department at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.
Type: Part-Time/FTE .80 (32 hrs/wk)

Shift Details: Monday-Friday 8:00-5:00 variable

What You’ll Do
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, you will report to Therapy Department Leadership. Perform physical therapy treatments to restore function, prevent disability and maximize potential and quality of life following disease, injury or surgery based on the plan of care established by a Physical Therapist. Participate in departmental programs and activities and serves as a role model of quality clinical practice. Serves as a resource to staff, rehabilitation teams, and interns.
Physical Therapy Assistant Job Responsibilities
- Collaborates with supervising PT, all disciplines, and ancillary staff to manage patients effectively.
- Utilizes equipment and diverse treatment techniques to optimize patient outcomes.
- Incorporates continuing education into daily practice and shares knowledge through in-services.
- Instructs patients/families on therapeutic activities, providing handouts and documenting care.
- Communicates professionally and appropriately with patients, families, and staff.
- Meets productivity expectations and proactively assists colleagues when caseload is lighter.
- Demonstrates initiative, flexibility, and accountability in managing daily caseloads and support activities.
- Participates actively in meetings, program development, special projects, and performance improvement initiatives.
- Follows team norms, gives clear direction to support personnel, and adheres to departmental policies and documentation guidelines.
- Completes accurate, timely documentation for patient care, billing, regulatory compliance, and prior authorization requirements.
- Maintains professional credentials, licensure, certifications (including CPR/BCLS), and completes mandatory education on schedule.
- Uses universal precautions, protective equipment, and ergonomic techniques to ensure safety.
- Adheres to regulatory requirements, organizational policies, and is available for overtime or schedule changes as needed.
- Serves as a clinical resource, maintains knowledge through literature review, and supports staff education with evidence-based references.
- Completes additional assigned duties and projects as required
What You Bring
As a Physical Therapy Assistant, it requires the ability to work independently in a high-demand environment, exercising sound judgment and decision-making with minimal supervision. The individual is proficient in using modalities and equipment necessary for standard treatments.
Required Qualifications
- The knowledge, skills, and abilities as indicated below are normally acquired through the successful completion of an associate degree.
- Physical Therapist Assistance licensure in Indiana is required.
- Maintain current BLS certification.
