Job Description
Position Summary
Provides general financial and clerical duties for assigned outpatient department. Work responsibilities include all aspects related to registration and scheduling including but not limited to: pre-certification, insurance authorizations, track referrals to assure all required timelines are met or exceeded, update the referral, pre-certification, or prior authorization in the electronic medical record and payer systems and in other systems as required as directed by provider, including appropriately annotating and updating orders and requests, reach out to health insurance plans as needed, collaborate with other departments to assist in obtaining medication pre-authorizations in a cross functional manner, communicates with all involved, payer, provider, and patient as appropriate and as per protocol, remains current on referral policies and procedures, payer requirements, working with other responsible parties to obtain medication and financing for non or under-insured as well obtaining ABNs. Maintains an effective workflow to supports the daily operation between the technical/nursing staff, patients and medical staff. The Financial Services Representative is also responsible for all aspects of assigned department’s charges and documentation review including internal billing audits.
Qualifications
• High School Diploma/GED/Equivalent Work Experience
• Knowledge of medical terminology, practice revenue cycle, medical insurance, and medical practice services and routines
• 2 years’ experience in a Medical Oncology office setting
• Oncology EMR experience
• BLS certification through the American Heart Association
Preferred
• Treatment and testing authorization experience
