Job Description

  • Job Summary
    • Assistants are responsible for the collection and coordination of patient samples for laboratory testing. Samples include, but are not limited to: venous blood, capillary blood, urine, throat swabs, nasopharyngeal swabs and specimens collected by non-lab personnel. Assistants will also be responsible for performing non-technical, simple laboratory tasks in all sections, such as operating and maintaining the records of basic instruments, centrifuges and dishwashers. Assistants duties also include, but are not limited to: clerical duties such as patient registration, patient test ordering, result correlation, distribution, filing and the collection of drug screens and breath alcohol testing. Back up for Lab Courier Service.
  • Regulatory Requirements
    • Must have a high school diploma or equivalent knowledge from experience.
    • Phlebotomy certification is preferred but not required. Lab assistants are encouraged to obtain a phlebotomy certification.
    • Prior lab experience preferred.
    • A valid Ohio Drivers License with a good driving record is required, if applicable.
  • Language Skills
    • Ability to communicate in English, both verbally and in writing.
    • Additional languages preferred.
    • Excellent interpersonal skills.
  • Skills
    • Must complete simple laboratory tasks in all sections.
