2nd Shift Machine Operator at Tufts Grinding Inc – SOUTH CHICAGO HEIGHTS, Illinois

Role Summary:

The Machine Operator will be responsible for efficiently operating various industrial machines, ensuring that production goals are met while maintaining a safe and organized work environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong attention to detail and the ability to work independently and as part of a team.

This position is for the 2nd shift, 10-hour shift (afternoons, 3 pm-1:30 am M-F, 1 pm-9:30 pm Saturday when needed).

Overtime, as well as Saturday work based on production levels, may be required.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Set up and operate machinery according to specifications and production requirements.
• Monitor machine operations and make adjustments as necessary to ensure product quality is maintained.
• Inspect material to ensure quality specifications.
• Follow safety protocols and guidelines to ensure a safe working environment.
• Collaborate with team members to meet production targets and deadlines.

Qualifications:

• Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a team environment.
• Strong attention to detail and a commitment to safety in an industrial setting.
• Basic math skills
• Ability to use and read a tape measure

Technical Skills:

• Previous experience as a machine operator is a plus but not required; training will be provided upon hiring.

Physical Demands:

• Ability to climb, balance, stoop, crawl, kneel, and exert 20 to 50 pounds of force.
• Requires finger dexterity and reaching capabilities.
• Must wear safety glasses, hearing protection, hard hats, and other personal protective equipment as required.
• Ability to stand for extended periods (10 hours).

Other Skills and Abilities:

• Strong interpersonal skills and effective verbal and written communication.
• Ability to work well under pressure and adapt to changing schedules and demands.
• Ability to work weekends when needed.
• Good attendance is mandatory.
• Ability to use precision measuring equipment such as micrometers (preferred).
• Complete a competency-based test ( math and measurement).
• Candidates must pass a physical and drug screening.
