About This Position

Beacon Health System is hiring a full-time day shift Radiology Tech (RT) for our Diagnostic- Special Procedure Department at Memorial Hospital in South Bend, IN.

Type: Full-Time/FTE .90 (36 hrs/wk)
Shift: Days
Shift Details: Monday-Friday, Day shift, call rotation for holidays and weekends included

New Pay Options Available for IR Techs:

  • Full-time and part-time (24+ hours/week) IR Techs are eligible for premium pay.
  • Earn an additional $12/hour with a signed 3-year agreement and completion of department orientation.

What You’ll Do

As a Radiology Tech, you will assist Interventional Radiologists in the diagnosis and treatment of cerebral, aortic, and peripheral vascular diseases using advanced radiographic and ultrasonic imaging. You will also support physicians in the diagnosis and treatment of non-vascular conditions such as biopsies, drainages, and injections. As part of the care team, you will perform as a scrub assistant or circulator while ensuring radiation safety for patients and team members

Radiology Tech (RT) Job Responsibilities

  • Operate and demonstrate competency with Interventional Radiology imaging equipment.
  • Perform interventional/diagnostic exams per protocol; review, reconstruct, annotate, and archive images (PACS/RIS).
  • Accurately document procedural data, charges, and exam information.
  • Maintain sterile technique, radiation safety, infection control, and regulatory compliance.
  • Anticipate patient-specific needs and procedural variations to ensure quality care.
  • Collaborate with the IR team and nursing to support efficient patient flow.
  • Manage inventory and support departmental operations.
  • Maintain required licensure, certifications, competencies, and continuing education.
  • Participate in on-call rotation, overtime, meetings, orientation, and quality improvement initiatives.
  • Uphold departmental standards, timekeeping accuracy, and organizational values (The Beacon Way).

What You Bring

As a Radiology Tech, this role requires proficiency in aseptic technique and patient positioning, along with knowledge of interventional equipment, catheters, contrast media, and radiology systems including PACS. The individual must be able to operate radiographic and interventional equipment effectively. The position is hospital-based in a direct patient care environment and includes participation in an on-call rotation with a required 30-minute response time. Physical demands include prolonged standing and walking, pushing carts or wheelchairs up to 50 pounds, safely lifting or positioning patients (up to 35 pounds unassisted), and performing CPR while maintaining the stamina necessary to carry out essential duties.

Required Qualifications

  • Completion of an ARRT-approved Radiography Program.

  • Must be a RT(R)

  • ARRT registry and Indiana State Board of Health license required.

  • 1–2 years of related experience required; Interventional Radiography experience preferred.
  • Vascular Interventional (VI) certification preferred.
