ACCOUNTS PAYABLE SPECIALIST at Town of Easton – Easton, Maryland
About This Position
Job Duties/Responsibilities:
Responsible for compiling amounts owed from purchase orders, charge slips, sales tickets, etc, and for preparing invoices and recording transactions. Maintains all payment records. Ensures timely payment of vendor invoices and expense vouchers and maintains accurate records and control reports. Review of applicable accounting reports and accounts payable register to ensure accuracy. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of tasks.

Required Skills/Abilities:
· Proficiency with Microsoft Office required (Excel, Word).
· Familiar with standard concepts, practices, and accounts payable procedures that include examining vouchers, claims, invoices, entering invoices into the accounting system and verifying supporting data for conformance with established procedures, approvals and regulations.
· Maintains accounts payable records, vendor data (W-9).
· Contacts vendors, department personnel, grant recipients and others to obtain and provide information and resolve issues relating to payables.
· Familiarity with automated accounting systems.
· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with other employees and the public.
· Provide information to department staff as needed for budgeting and account detail.
Education and Experience:
· Associate Degree preferred
· At least 5 years of experience.
· A valid driver’s license is required for this position
Physical Requirements:
Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
Must be able to lift to 15 pounds at times.
