About the Role:
The 1st Shift Production Supervisor, (Monday-Thursday 5:00am-2:00pm, Friday 5:00am-9:00am), plays a critical role in overseeing and managing the daily operations of the production floor during the first shift. This position ensures that production goals are met efficiently while maintaining high standards of quality and safety. The supervisor leads a team of production workers, providing guidance, training, and support to optimize performance and foster a collaborative work environment. They are responsible for coordinating resources, monitoring workflow, and troubleshooting any issues that arise to minimize downtime. Ultimately, the role is essential in driving continuous improvement initiatives and ensuring that production targets align with company objectives.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate’s or Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a manufacturing or production environment, with at least 3 years in a supervisory role.
- Strong knowledge of production processes, safety standards, and quality control.
- Proven ability to lead and motivate a team effectively.
- Basic computer skills, including proficiency with Microsoft Office and production management software.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Management, or related discipline.
- Experience with Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma, or other continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with ERP systems and advanced production scheduling tools.
- Certification in safety management or supervisory training programs.
- Demonstrated success in managing unionized workforces.
Responsibilities:
- Supervise and coordinate activities of production staff in our assembly and powder paint departments to meet daily production schedules and quality standards.
- Monitor production processes and equipment to ensure safe and efficient operations.
- Train, mentor, and evaluate team members to enhance skills and performance.
- Implement and enforce company policies, safety regulations, and quality control procedures.
- Collaborate with maintenance, quality assurance, and supply chain teams to resolve production issues promptly.
- Analyze production data and prepare reports to identify trends and recommend improvements.
- Lead continuous improvement projects to optimize productivity and reduce waste.
- Manage shift handovers and communicate effectively with other supervisors and management.

The required skills enable the supervisor to effectively manage daily production activities by applying strong leadership and organizational abilities to coordinate team efforts and meet production targets. Communication skills are essential for providing clear instructions, conducting training, and facilitating collaboration across departments. Analytical skills are used to interpret production data, identify bottlenecks, and implement process improvements.
