About This Position
Under the direction of an MRI technologist, the MRI Assistant is responsible for assisting the technologist in providing appropriate, timely, quality patient care within the scope of service of The Imaging Center. Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: room and coil preparation, patient pre-safety screening and when applicable escorting patients to and from MRI, additional duties with which the technologist requires assistance as assigned and associated with the daily operations of the MRI area including a variety of administrative tasks and housekeeping functions such as work area cleaning, telephone communications, computer system data entry, information retrieval, (HIS, RIS, PACS), and infection prevention. Responsible for maintaining proper function of all equipment used while escorting patients (including, but not limited to, oxygen tanks, IV pumps, IV poles, wheelchairs, stretchers, patient beds). This position in responsible for helping maintain the non-ferrous MRI environment. MRI Assistant shall exercise professional behavior and ethics while performing services in a demeanor complimentary to customer service, age specific criteria, safety and medical ethics.
Education: High School Diploma or GED required. Completion of a Nursing assistant program preferable, but not required. CPR certification preferred but not required for hire. CPR certification mandatory after 3 months. Training in MRI safety preferred. Some medical background preferable, but not required. Basic computer skills are necessary.
