Job Vision: Cutter & Buck is growing and opening a new fulfillment center in Grand Prairie, TX. The DFC will mirror our spectacular Seattle Fulfillment Center. Employees are the backbone of Cutter & Buck and we need a fabulous HR Generalist to join our small but mighty HR/Payroll team in opening and maintaining all employee relations at the DFC.
Job Summary: This critical position is responsible for administering human resource policies, procedures and programs; works with managers/supervisors in assuring compliance with all laws and government regulations; is located at the DFC on a daily basis to support our diverse workforce in a production, distribution and warehouse environment. This role reports to our HR Director to administer company wide functions, including but not limited to benefits administration, leave administration, Safety program and training initiatives.

- Employee relations – onsite corrective action and performance management, up to terminations as needed.

- Payroll support - specifically for DFC employees.
Employee Relations
- Perform employee relations investigations, complaint intake and other elements of employee and supervisor needs. Consult with the HR Director when faced with complex issues including escalated investigations.
- Consult with HR Director regarding Employee Handbook policy or implementation.
- Ensure compliance with federal and state laws including FMLA, safety and health and workers’ compensation and maintaining/securing database file.
- Function as a resource to employees for all HR issues.
- Respond to and participate in unemployment claims and hearings. Liaisons with government agencies and outside vendors for the unemployment compensation and worker’s compensation programs.
- Plans, organizes, prepares documents, and facilitates Seasonal Break process. Oversees hiring and management of Peak Season staffing needs.
Recruiting and Onboarding
- Schedule and oversee interview processes with hiring manager/supervisor according to role and requirements of position – observe safety inspection testing, needle threading, etc.
- Manages the HRIS tracking and communications with candidates. Ensures compliance in the hiring process.
- Maintain the HRIS for positions, including cost and applicant referrals.
- Work with employees to ensure Employee Referral program is maximized.
- Coordinate background checks, drug screens and start dates for new hires onsite.
- Completes the New Hire process and communicates with hiring managers, Payroll Coordinator and HR Director.
Health & Safety
- As a permanent member of the DFC Safety Committee, the HR Generalist ensures a safe work environment for C&B employees.
- Intake, track and report on workplace injuries. Provide Safety Committee with monthly updates on injuries and strategize to reduce workplace injuries.
- Organizes and manages CPR Trainings and other compliance related trainings.
- Working with the Facilities Manager, ensure audits, reviews and other facilities needs are addressed and remediated.
General HR Administration
- Completes employment verification process for employees upon request from government agencies and other entities. Manages employee authorization documentation.
- Provides support to managers and supervisors in the termination process of all DFC employees. Completes Exit interviews as well as communication to organization on staff turnover.
Leave Administration
- Process owner at DFC for leave administration including FMLA and other leave of absences in alignment with company policies.
- Works with Payroll Coordinator to ensure paid leave administration and benefit premium collections during leave of absences.
- Approves, implements, and monitors FMLA and medical leaves at DFC.
Benefits Administration
- Supports health and welfare benefits administration including but not limited to open enrollment coordination, new hire orientation and eligibility determination.
- Provides on-site assistance to employees and ensures understandings of benefits and options.
Other duties as assigned
As an essential function of this position, the employee must be able to handle high levels of stress satisfactorily and be congenial with other employees, vendors and customers at all times. The employee must have a proven background working with a diverse employee group. The employee must not pose a threat to the safety of others.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:
- Ability to work independently, demonstrate strong time/project management and organizational skills.
- Possess the ability to multi-task effectively. Time management is essential to the success of this position.
- Supports a diverse workforce wherein English may not be the primary language spoken or understood.
- Assures integrity and consistency of systems, personnel files, processes and policies, and maintains records and policies in accordance with state and federal laws.
- Keeps current on recent federal, state, and case law changes and monitors labor law updates and newsletters for changes that affect HR.
- Highly effective oral and written communication skills.
- Possess excellent interpersonal skills with all levels of the company and with employees from diverse language backgrounds.
Education and Experience:
- Current knowledge of federal and state employment laws.
- 7-10+ years of experience in Human Resources with 2-3 years of recent experience supporting a production, service or manufacturing organization.
- Word, Excel, Outlook and Internet skills and strong ability to learn other programs. ADP Workforce Now experience highly desired.
- Bachelor’s degree in Business, Human Resources or related field, or an equivalent of work experience and education combined.
- Multi-lingual with Vietnamese, Spanish or other native language is highly desired.
