Bankruptcy Paralegal
Position Details: Shift: MondayFriday, 8:00 a.m. 5:00 p.m. Eastern Time Location: Remote Bilingual: English required; Spanish strongly preferredWe are seeking a Bankruptcy Paralegal to join a fully remote law practice focused on bankruptcy cases. The team values empathy, accuracy, and ethics when supporting clients through urgent financial situations such as foreclosure, repossession, and garnishments.
Responsibilities: Prepare complete bankruptcy petitions with emphasis on Chapter 13, capturing assets, liabilities, income, household composition, and supporting schedules/statements. Conduct means test calculations to assess eligibility prior to filing; work only on cases pre-screened for viability and ethical standards. Collaborate with intake team and attorney to assemble accurate petitions (no routine document chasing). Perform rigorous quality control to ensure precision in names, addresses, figures, and disclosures aligned with trustee expectations. Draft and update petitions using Jubilee bankruptcy software and manage files securely via Dropbox. Participate in brief daily huddles; maintain client-first empathy as the "solver" during stressful client journeys. Coordinate original signatures as required by the court; meet time-sensitive case demands.
Qualifications: Minimum 3 years of hands-on U.S. bankruptcy paralegal experience preparing petitions (Chapter 13 preferred); 5+ years ideal. Proficiency with bankruptcy software; experience with Jubilee or ability to learn quickly a plus. Native-level or highly fluent English; Spanish strongly preferred as many clients speak Spanish. Demonstrated commitment to ethics, confidentiality, and accuracy.
Hard Skills: U.S. bankruptcy petition preparation (Chapters 7 & 13), including schedules and statements. Remote document management using Dropbox. Clear written and verbal communication in English.
Soft Skills: Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy. Empathy and client care in high-stress, time-sensitive situations. Strong ethical judgment and integrity. Collaboration in a remote team environment with daily huddles. Effective time management and adaptability.
