This is a peds position.



Responsibilities

  • Evaluate patients’ abilities and limitations.
  • Establish treatment goals based on evaluation findings and referral reasons, considering neuromuscular movement and stability, sensation, activities of daily living (ADLs), perception, cognition, vocational and prevocational abilities, developmental status, dysphagia, manual muscle testing, range of motion, body mechanics, and other relevant assessments.

  • Assess home and work environments, recommending physical barrier modifications or ergonomic adaptations as needed.

  • Administer therapy according to established plans, utilizing appropriate procedures, equipment, and techniques within the scope of Occupational Therapy practice.

  • Recommend adaptive equipment, complete justification documentation, and coordinate delivery.

  • Re-evaluate patients regularly to assess progress and provide discharge recommendations when appropriate.

  • Collaborate and co-treat with therapists from other disciplines.

  • Fabricate splints as required.

  • Maintain timely and accurate documentation of patient care in accordance with established standards.

  • Educate patients and caregivers on therapy goals, treatment methods, home program execution, and injury prevention strategies.

  • Supervise patient care activities performed by aides, assistants, attendants, and volunteers.


Qualifications

Education:

  • As required by licensure.

Skills:

  • Able to render patient services and supervise Certified Occupational Therapy Assistants (OTA/COTA), Therapy Aides and students.

  • Excellent organizational skills to facilitate program development.

  • Demonstrates competency, as appropriate to the ages of patients served, in the ability to obtain and interpret information in terms of the patients needs; of knowledge of normal growth and development; and an understanding of the range of the treatment needed.

  • Skilled in home program development and family training.

  • Knowledge in appropriate selection and use of DME (adaptive equipment.)

  • Computer skills.
