Job Summary:

The Pre-Post Registered Nurse (RN) provides comprehensive nursing care to patients before and after surgical and procedural interventions. This role is responsible for patient assessment, preparation, monitoring, education, and discharge planning to ensure safe, high-quality care throughout the perioperative experience.

The Pre-Post RN collaborates closely with surgeons, anesthesia providers, and interdisciplinary team members to promote optimal patient outcomes and maintain compliance with regulatory and safety standards.

Key Responsibilities:

• Perform thorough preoperative assessments, including health history review, medication reconciliation, and patient education

• Prepare patients for surgery or procedures, ensuring informed consent and readiness

• Monitor patients post-procedure for hemodynamic stability, pain control, and complications

• Administer medications and IV therapies as ordered

• Provide discharge instructions and education to patients and families

• Document assessments, interventions, and outcomes accurately in the medical record

• Respond promptly to changes in patient condition and initiate appropriate interventions

Qualifications:

• Active Registered Nurse (RN) license

• BLS required; ACLS and/or PALS preferred (as applicable)

• Previous perioperative, PACU, or surgical nursing experience preferred

• Strong assessment, communication, and critical thinking skills

• Must pass WRMC Medication/Dosage Calculations Exam and IV Therapy Exam.

• Maintains annual unit specific competencies and education fair.

• Adheres to White River Health System's Standard of Behaviors.
