About This Position

Description:

The Human Resources (HR) Clerk provides administrative and clerical support to the Human Resources department at Northfield Park Racino, a 24/7 racetrack, dining, and gaming operation. This role assists with routine HR transactions, recordkeeping, onboarding support, and general team member inquiries.

The HR Clerk focuses on data entry, documentation, and administrative coordination to ensure accurate and timely processing of HR activities. This position works under the direction of HR leadership and HR Specialists and does not conduct investigations or make independent employment determinations.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS/DUTIES:

List duties in order of time spent or importance. Essential duties and tasks that must be performed with or without reasonable accommodation.

  • Provides front desk coverage and greets team members and applicants in a professional and welcoming manner.
  • Answers routine HR-related questions and directs team members to appropriate HR staff when necessary.
  • Assists with onboarding activities including preparing new hire packets, collecting required documentation, and scheduling orientation sessions.
  • Performs data entry in the HCM system for new hires, status changes, and other employment updates as directed.
  • Maintains organized and confidential personnel files in accordance with company standards and regulatory requirements.
  • Assists with employment eligibility documentation (I-9 processing support) and tracks required documentation under supervision.
  • Coordinates background check paperwork and tracks completion status.
  • Schedules interviews and assists with applicant communications as directed by Talent Acquisition or HR leadership.
  • Prepares routine HR correspondence, employment verifications, and standard documentation templates.
  • Assists with posting required federal, state, and company notices in designated areas.
  • Supports payroll processing by ensuring timekeeping documentation and personnel changes are submitted timely and accurately.
  • Maintains spreadsheets, logs, and tracking reports for attendance, training completion, licensing, and other HR compliance requirements.
  • Assists with file audits and document preparation during internal or regulatory reviews.
  • Orders office supplies and maintains HR department materials.
  • Provides administrative support for HR projects, training sessions, and engagement activities.
  • Maintains professionalism, confidentiality, and discretion when handling sensitive information.
  • Performs other duties as assigned in support of HR operations.

JOB SPECIFICATIONS:

Education, experience, skills required, equipment used.

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent required; Associate degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • One to two years of administrative or clerical experience required; prior HR support experience preferred.
  • Experience in a 24/7 operational environment such as casino, gaming, racetrack, hospitality, manufacturing, or healthcare preferred.
  • Basic knowledge of office procedures and recordkeeping practices.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and handle sensitive information appropriately.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and basic HRIS/HCM systems preferred.
  • Strong customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with multiple priorities.
  • Ability to work flexible schedules, including occasional evenings, weekends, or holidays, as needed to support operations.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain a valid state gaming license, as required by jurisdiction.
