About This Position
Job Summary
The Retail Associate plays a key role in creating an excellent customer experience by assisting shoppers in the garden center, maintaining the retail floor, and caring for live plant inventory. This role includes helping customers with gardening questions, performing small plantings or deliveries to client properties, and ensuring that the sales environment is clean, safe, and well-stocked.

Duties/Responsibilities
- Greet and assist customers with gardening questions and product needs; provide knowledgeable guidance to ensure a positive experience.
- Water, fertilize, prune, and merchandise a variety of live plants to ensure health and visual appeal.
- Maintain a clean, organized sales floor and outdoor live goods area; dust shelves, arrange products, and set displays.
- Assist with loading and unloading materials, including large and heavy items (soil, mulch, pots, etc.).
- Perform small planting tasks or deliveries to client properties as assigned.
- Operate a cash register, process transactions accurately, handle money/checks/cards, and provide correct change.
- Safely use manual tools (e.g., shovels) and, when trained, operate motorized equipment such as forklifts or small loaders.
- Clean and maintain the sales floor, restrooms, trash areas, and outdoor spaces.
- Incorporate safe work practices into all tasks, use proper PPE, and remain safety-conscious when working near heavy equipment.

- Basic plant knowledge preferred but not required (training provided).

Physical Requirements
- Ability to work outdoors in all weather conditions.
- Full range of mobility in upper and lower body.
- Ability to lift, push, and pull up to 50 lbs frequently.
- Able to perform tasks including stooping, kneeling, squatting, bending, and standing for extended periods.
