In this role, you will help shape and evolve a large-scale add-ons ecosystem used by millions of users worldwide, ensuring it remains secure, reliable, and easy to use for both developers and internal reviewers. You will work across full-stack systems, contributing to the modernization of developer tools, review workflows, and automated moderation pipelines. This position combines hands-on engineering with architectural leadership, requiring you to build resilient systems while improving platform observability, reliability, and performance. You will collaborate closely with product managers, designers, QA, developer relations, and community contributors to deliver end-to-end improvements. The role also involves driving operational excellence through incident management, SLO definition, and engineering best practices. You will mentor engineers, influence technical direction, and contribute to open-source development in a highly collaborative, mission-driven environment focused on building a better internet.

Accountabilities

You will take ownership of major technical initiatives across the add-ons platform, contributing to both feature development and system reliability while shaping engineering standards and operational excellence. You will work across teams to modernize tools, improve workflows, and ensure a safe and trustworthy ecosystem for developers and users.

  • Design and deliver major features and architectural improvements across the add-ons ecosystem, including DevHub, reviewer tools, and moderation systems.
  • Improve platform reliability through monitoring, deployments, incident response, and observability enhancements.
  • Define and uphold operational engineering standards, including SLOs, incident management processes, and system health metrics.
  • Build and maintain full-stack solutions using React/TypeScript, Python/Django, and MySQL.
  • Drive ecosystem safety through abuse prevention systems, policy compliance tools, and moderation workflows.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to translate product and operational needs into scalable technical solutions.
  • Mentor engineers and contribute to knowledge sharing, code reviews, and technical leadership across teams.
  • Participate in open-source contributions and engage with the broader developer community.
Requirements

You bring strong experience in modern software engineering, with a focus on scalable web systems, backend development, and platform reliability. You are comfortable working in distributed teams, navigating ambiguity, and influencing technical direction across multiple stakeholders.

  • Extensive experience building and leading modern web applications at scale.
  • Strong backend development skills, ideally with Python/Django or similar frameworks.
  • Solid understanding of frontend technologies such as React and TypeScript.
  • Experience with system reliability, incident response, monitoring, and operational best practices.
  • Knowledge of web security principles and building trustworthy, secure systems.
  • Strong communication and collaboration skills in distributed, cross-functional teams.
  • Proven ability to mentor engineers and support technical growth within teams.
  • Bonus: experience with cloud platforms (e.g., Google Cloud), SRE practices, or open-source contributions.
