Description:

Center Art LLC, managed by the Space Needle LLC, is partnering with Chihuly Studio to operate the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition on the Seattle Center grounds next to the Space Needle.

GENERAL POSITION SUMMARY:

The Custodian supports Center Art’s mission, vision and values by maintaining a clean, safe, and welcoming environment across all operational spaces as part of a Flex Service model: encompassing two Seattle Center campus attractions and the company’s Administrative Office, known as the HUB. This role ensures that all guest-facing, team-facing, and back-of-house areas reflect the highest standards of presentation, safety, and care. Team members flex between venues based on operational needs, demonstrating adaptability, professionalism, and a commitment to an elevated guest and team member experience.

The duties include, but are not limited to, general custodial functions, including sanitization, cleaning restrooms, trash removal, dusting, floor care, window cleaning, and stocking of supplies. The Custodian follows best practices for the operation of custodial equipment, and complies with set environmental standards, ensuring a safe, clean environment for our Team Members and Guests.

PRIMARY FUNCTIONS:

  • Promotes a clean, positive, courteous, and professional attitude and appearance to all Guests and Team Members of the corresponding attractions and the company’s Administration Office.
  • Execute consistent 5S practices (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain) in custodial closets, BOH workspaces, chemical storage, and equipment rooms.
  • Reset all operational areas to opening standards following established daily, weekly, and monthly routines.
  • Execute theater-specific tasks such as preshow preparation cleaning, show-turn cleaning, theater resets, and high-volume refresh cycles in Food & Beverage, Retail, and lobby locations.
  • Support plaza dining and lobby cleanliness, including counters, fixtures, tables, floors, windows, and waste stations.
  • Maintain clean restrooms.
  • Care for flooring: vacuum carpeting, mop, buff, polish, strip, and finish flooring.
  • Wash windows, dust fixtures and furniture, trash removal.
  • Maintain debris-free pathways in garden and external facility perimeter.
  • Maintain safe water fountain and hydration station conditions, including sanitation of high-touch surfaces and drip areas.
  • Work successfully with a diverse Team and Guests, while communicating clearly with supervisors, custodial teammates, and cross-functional partners.
  • Flex across two campus attractions and the HUB administrative offices according to business needs and carry over best practices.
  • Focus on solutions, not on frustrations.
  • Do your part to minimize and reduce waste, conserve resources, operate efficiently, and protect air and water quality.
  • Follow SDS and chemical handling safety standards.
  • Maintain working knowledge of all policies, procedures, and checklists related to the attractions and HUB administration office operations.
  • Any other responsibilities defined by management.

OTHER RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Be intentional in understanding processes, procedures, and systems. Continuously looking for opportunities to improve efficiency, incorporate and share key learnings.
  • Participate in community outreach opportunities.
  • Lead by example and assist Guests and Team Members in responsible practices.
  • Provide information about all areas of the Chihuly Garden and Glass Exhibition, other attractions, Seattle, and the surrounding area.
  • Follow policy and procedure for deep cleaning and sanitizing before and after business hours, ensuring cleanliness and sanitation policies are followed to create a safe, inviting space for Team Members and Guests.
  • Follow established company policy and protocols, while assuming personal accountability for cleaning and sanitizing all assigned areas and touch points, including restroom surfaces, floors, walls, fixtures, tables, windows, waste stations, trash removal, garden paths, and external facility perimeter.
  • Always remain respectful and courteous
  • Be a safety officer: see something, say something. It is the responsibility of every Team Member - Own it.
  • Report any issues and discrepancies in daily operations along with a high focus on the integrity of the artwork in and around the Garden and Grounds of the Exhibition.
  • Incorporate and support initiatives that improve overall health and wellness.
  • Report pest sightings or evidence immediately and support preventative measures.
  • Assist in the ongoing training of fellow Team Members within custodial operations.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS REQUIRED:

  • Must be able to work a flexible schedule.
  • Knowledge of custodial equipment and operations is preferred.
  • Sound judgment is required in interpreting various conditions and applying guidelines while choosing the proper method to meet the standard of care.
  • Knowledge of standard methods, materials, procedures, tools, and equipment associated with custodial and groundskeeping work.
  • Must be able to work on ladders and/or elevated surfaces.
  • Must be able to read, write, and speak English.
  • Team player attitude.
  • Ability to react quickly and correctly in a fast-paced environment.
  • Comfortable working with a diverse population.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds; ability to see near, far, and adjust focus; able to work with arms extended overhead; able to stand, bend, squat, kneel and sit for extended lengths of time.

Full Time, Hourly Position

Hourly Rate: $22.88 - $22.88 / hour
