Job Description
Summary: Facilitate group instruction to employees on how to safely deliver a variety of routine and emergency medications and proper documentation procedures.
Essential functions: Provide instruction to unlicensed assistive personnel on medication handling, administration, and documentation in the home and Day Services settings. Instruction to include:Medication administration procedures for routine and as needed medications Hands-on exploration of varied emergency medication delivery methods Proper documentation procedures Safety considerations Error prevention Partner with TDAS’ Training Coordinator to maintain current course content and materials to reflect TDAS’ policies and practices and changing industry standards.Administer and grade certification quizzes; submit them to HR for records retention.Competencies: Exhibit excellent verbal and written communication skills.Ability to teach and demonstrate skills to employees in a classroom setting in an interactive and engaging manner.Qualifications: Mustbe a registered nurse in the State of North Carolina with an active license.Mustbe able to work at least one weekday evening and one Saturday morning per month.Previous experience with or coursework on intellectual/developmental disabilities and autism preferredWork environment: Work is performed in an office environment and requires the use of office equipment.Evening and weekend work is required.Physical Demands: Work involves talking, hearing, sitting, standing, walking, bending, squatting, climbing stairs, using hands to handle objects oroperatetools, and driving a vehicle.May be required to push, pull, lift or carry up to 50 pounds, physically transfer individuals, and perform CPR/First Aid.
