About This Position

We are seeking a hands-on Screen-Printing Engineer to support the development, characterization, and scale-up of functional inks and screen-printed thin films. This role focuses on print process optimization, quality control, and collaboration with internal teams and external partners to deliver high-performance printed materials.

The ideal candidate has strong experience in screen printing, rheology, materials characterization, and laboratory operations, with an interest in printed electronics, functional coatings, or advanced materials.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Handle ink chemistry and samples, including preparation, formulation, and quality control.
  • Characterize printed film performance, including adhesion, thickness uniformity, electrical/mechanical stability, and environmental durability (temperature, humidity, chemical exposure).
  • Implement and follow established QA/QC protocols to ensure consistent print quality and material performance.
  • Prepare samples via a variety of thin film deposition techniques: screen printing, bar coating, blade coating, and more.
  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot screen printing equipment and related laboratory tools.
  • Develop and refine new test methods and support scale-up operations in collaboration with cross-functional teams.
  • Prepare and deliver samples to external partners for testing and collaboration.
  • Handle and process nanomaterials such as silver, copper, and other metallic nanoparticles.
  • Support customer demonstrations and provide direct technical assistance related to ink handling and print process optimization.
  • Document experimental procedures, results, and analyses; prepare internal reports and external technical updates.
  • Maintain a clean, organized laboratory environment and uphold all lab safety and chemical handling protocols.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Materials Science, or a related field preferred, or a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience in a similar role.
  • Experience working in a wet chemical laboratory or chemical manufacturing environment is required.
  • Hands-on experience with thin-film deposition techniques (spray coating, inkjet printing, screen printing, etc.) is highly desirable.
  • Familiarity with nanomaterials and ink or dispersion formulation is a plus.
  • Knowledge of QA/QC protocols, chemical safety, and general laboratory best practices.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational and planning abilities with a high level of attention to detail.
  • Self-motivated with a strong desire to learn and grow in a technical environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively as part of a small, diverse, and collaborative team.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel and PowerPoint for data analysis and reporting.
