Production Manager

POSITION PURPOSE

The Production Manager plans, organizes, and controls production at Metromont to ensure that goods are produced efficiently, on time, within a budget, and to standard.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Oversee day to day production activities in a precast/prestressed concrete production facility
  • Coordinate the activities of Metromonts setup and pouring operations, wet finish, dry finish, and stripping functions
  • Responsible for development and performance of crews with respect to safety, quality, schedule and cost
  • Ensure all materials needed for completion of set-up and pour process are available and delivered in a timely manner
  • Monitor and track the progress of the daily production processes to ensure that production schedules and budgets are achieved
  • Recommend and make improvements in production methods
  • Ensure and monitor quality of product
  • Coordinate with other departments to establish production schedules to meet customer demands and optimize production capabilities
  • Coordinate with other departments on purchasing, production and distribution of materials
  • Attend scheduled Safety, Quality, Production and Turnover meetings
  • Implement and follow Metromonts safety programs including performing weekly safety meetings.
  • Participate on plant leadership team
  • Actively involved in the selection of temporary and new hire production personnel
  • Participate in the training, development and supervision of production personnel
  • Ensure adequate staffing levels are met and maintained in correspondence with fluctuating production needs and schedules
  • Conduct routine performance evaluations and address any performance and/or other employment-related issues
  • Must adhere to all Metromont and OSHA safety rules and regulations
  • Housekeeping as necessary to maintain work are, tools, and equipment in a clean and orderly manner
SCOPE OF AUTHORITY
  • Coordinates with support functions such as Quality, Steel Fabrication, Purchasing, and Scheduling
  • Works under the direct supervision of the Plant Manager
  • Interfaces on a continuous basis with the plant management team, supervisors, crew leaders and production associates
  • Leads production departments as assigned

EDUCATION AND TECHNOLOGY
  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Minimum of five years experience in a supervisory role in a manufacturing environment
  • Experience working in a precast/prestressed and/or lean manufacturing environment is a plus

WORK ENVIRONMENT / SCHEDULE
  • Typical schedule is Monday-Friday
  • Schedule varies with workload and location
  • Unscheduled overtime may be required depending on production needs
  • Indoor, outdoor/sheltered and unsheltered
  • Work area is not climate controlled and may be exposed to changing weather and temperature conditions
  • Noise level is moderate
  • Office environment some days

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

This position requires standing for long periods of time, lifting (up to 75 lbs.) and bending, repetitive motion with medium force, and an ability to frequently climb up to 15 feet above ground using stairs.
