Position Overview:
The Maintenance Technician/Millwright supports safe, reliable plant operations through hands-on maintenance, repair, and installation of mechanical systems and rotating equipment. This role requires a strong millwright background with machinist-level capability, specializing in rotating equipment such as turbines, gearboxes, magnetic drive pumps, and blowers.
This position is based in Houston and follows a 9/80 schedule, working 7:00 AM to 4:30 PM.
What you will be doing:
- Perform millwright maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair on rotating equipment including turbines, gearboxes, mag drive pumps, and blowers
- Execute pipefitting, welding, and hydraulic system repairs
- Diagnose and repair mechanical failures on plant equipment
- Read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical manuals
- Perform precision measurements using micrometers, calipers, and other tools
- Execute rigging, hoisting, and movement of heavy equipment
- Operate forklifts, manlifts, small cranes, and shop equipment
- Conduct preventative maintenance inspections and complete required documentation
- Support repair of tank cars, trailers, and associated equipment
- Follow all HSE policies including Stop Work and Zero Tolerance standards
- Identify and report unsafe conditions and support safe work permitting
Qualifications:
- Minimum 5 years of experience as a millwright/mechanic in an industrial or chemical plant environment
- Strong machinist capability with specialization in rotating equipment (turbines, gearboxes, mag drive pumps, blowers)
- Experience with pipefitting and welding (plate and pipe)
- Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics
- Experience working with precision measurement tools
- Knowledge of rigging and safe equipment handling practices
- Ability to operate forklifts, manlifts, and small cranes
- Basic computer skills
- High school diploma or GED required
- TWIC card required
