Developmental Intervention/Behavior Support Specialist
Job Summary: The Disabilities and Behavior Consultant is responsible for supporting children with disabilities and behavioral challenges by coordinating diagnostic services, referrals, and related interventions for our CCP sites. This role involves providing technical assistance, job-embedded professional development, and consultation to staff to ensure effective implementation of Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) and Individual Family Service Plans (IFSPs). The consultant ensures compliance with Head Start, IDEA, and NCLB requirements while collaborating with school districts, mental health agencies, and families to provide comprehensive support. Responsibilities also include conducting behavioral assessments, developing intervention plans, modeling behavior management strategies, overseeing compliance with mental health and special education regulations, and tracking student progress. The consultant works closely with caregivers, classroom staff, and external agencies to create inclusive, developmentally appropriate learning environments that support student success.
Qualifications:
- Teaching certification in Special Education required.
- 3-5 years of teaching experience in special education, behavior intervention or related work.
- Bachelor's degree in Psychology, Behavioral Health, Counseling, or a related field is required.
- Experience in crisis management, de-escalation, and intervention strategies.
- Familiarity with Head Start, IDEA Part C, NCLB, and Kentucky Childcare Licensing regulations.
- Willingness to travel, including home visits, trainings, and meetings.
- Ability to meet physical requirements, including lifting up to 50 lbs.
- Valid driver’s license, automobile liability insurance, and reliable transportation required.
Compensation:$54,006 - $69,209 Based on education and experience.
Benefits: State health insurance, state pension retirement plan: KTRS, tuition assistance, paid sick and annual leave and paid parental leave.
