About This Position

Manager of Clinical Placements

Educ-Office of the Dean - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (25006837)

The Manager of Clinical Placements is responsible for placements with clinical requirements in initial teacher certification programs at the graduate and undergraduate level.

These include observation practicum, student teaching, internships, advanced teaching practicum, and agency-based clinical experiences (approximately 350 students annually). The manager must work with faculty to understand the needs and placements preferences for the Teacher Education area and serve as a liaison to the faculty from placement sites and vice versa. The manager serves as a liaison with school districts to resolve any issues in schools, e.g. change of placements, professionalism issues, conflict resolution, etc. Coordinate and conduct Intern/Student Teaching/Certification Orientation Sessions and exit meetings. The manager should seek opportunities to build relationships with districts and schools in order to establish and strengthen high quality student-related partnerships.


Job Summary

Coordinates student field placement to fulfill academic learning experiences required for degree completion. Counsels students, conducts orientation and training sessions, and oversees clearances. Bolsters high-quality student-partnerships within the community, school districts, and employers.


Essential Functions

Management of the full life cycle of the clinical and student placement process as outlined in the job duties. Data management. Management of the clearance process and the certification process. Events and career services as needed.


Physical Effort

The job is primarily sedentary. Position requires meetings with faculty, staff, and students in other parts of the building, throughout the campus, as well as off campus traveling to schools and meetings. Extensive computer work. Minimal lifting when needed for events or in office.

Hiring Range: $43,894.50 - $53,711.00
