About This Position

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Oversees the operation of the Finance Division departments, including Accounting, Patient Financial Services, Admissions, Revenue Cycle, Human Resources, JMH Resource Management Company, Managed Care Contracting, Property Lease Management and other departments from time to time that are reallocated among all divisions.

Maintains personnel requirements including job descriptions, performance appraisals, disciplinary action, continuing education, and proficiency testing for compliance with federal, state and local regulations. Provides for employee selection, orientation, training, and review. Ensures consistent application of all departmental and hospital policies. Provides appropriate staffing to perform departmental functions to meet expectations of departmental customers.

Plans and oversees the development of the annual hospital-wide and related divisions and entities operating and capital budgets based on input from department employees. Monitors monthly variances from budgets at the departmental and organization-wide levels. Identifies and implements financial and operational alternatives to improve the overall financial position of the organization.

Establishes systems that result in efficient monitoring of the financial operation of the hospital and related divisions and entities. Oversees the preparation of the monthly financial statements for the hospital and related divisions and entities, both on an individual and consolidated basis.

Oversees all financial and internal controls audits conducted by independent third parties, including the annual audited financial statements process and the annual cost report compilation.

Oversees all routine plant operations and environmental services aspects and needs of the organization including proper resources and controls to allow for an overall safe environment for all patients, visitors and employees. Participates as lead financial liaison on all capital construction projects.

Serves as a member of the Executive Team in overseeing the overall operations of the hospital and related divisions and entities.

Maintains and participates in Quality Improvement/Quality Assurance activities as determined by the hospital including hospital operations improvement.

Ensures compliance with departmental and hospital policies, including safety policies such as Plans for Hazardous Materials, Blood Borne Pathogens, Fire Safety and Disaster Plans.

Promotes positive employee relations by: using positive communication methods; supporting employee continuing education and professional development; instilling employee commitment to the Mission and Values of the hospital; motivating employees to improve the image of Johnson Memorial Health and ensuring employee commitment to customer service and continuous quality improvement. Clearly communicates and continuously supports the Mission and Values of Johnson Memorial Health.

Assists Board Members, Medical Staff Members and Leadership Team in developing the financial component of business plans for departments, projects, new services, etc.

Responsible for all managed cared negotiations on behalf of hospital relating to third party contractual arrangements.

Monitors and secures appropriate lines of insurance and debt issuances.

Provides input and oversight in the management of hospital investments; serves as Board-appointed Treasurer of organization.

Serves on various hospital related boards including Secretary/Treasurer of the Johnson County Health Network.

Serves as liaison and oversees all contractual relationships with tenants leasing occupying JMH owned properties.

Conducts all activities in compliance with applicable laws, regulations, standards, and Johnson Memorial Health policies and procedures including Blood and Body Substance Precautions.

EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND TRAINING:

Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Business, Finance or a similar field relating to the scope of responsibilities of this position required. Masters degree and/or CPA required. At least five years successful experience as a senior level financial leader in a hospital, healthcare organization or consulting firm with significant experience in hospital financial matters required.
