Job Summary

The Production Machine Operator is responsible for setting up, operating and maintaining various types of machinery used in the manufacturing process. This role involves following production schedules, ensuring quality control, and performing routine maintenance to maximize machine efficiency. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of machine operations, safety protocols and a commitment to producing high-quality products in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Management Responsibilities

· This position has no supervisory responsibilities.

Requirements:

Essential Job Functions

· Operates production machinery in accordance with prints and specifications. Assigned machines may include, grinders, mills, lasers and similar equipment.

· Learns required training needed to operate specialized tools and raw materials based on instructions and specifications provided for the job.

· Produces required quantity of parts within establisted specifications and tolerances.

· Measures finished parts with precision tools, ensuring compliance with function, quality, and cosmetic specifications

· Maintains logs and records of units produced including a record of errors resulting in rejected or discarded pieces.

· Inspects equipment prior to use to ensure proper set up and alignment; performs basic and routine adjustments and maintenance

· Notifies supervisor when faulty equipment or defective materials are discovered.

· Maintains, organizes, and cleans equipment and the work area.

· Performs other duties as assigned.

Required Skills/Abilities

· Able to read measuring instruments.

· Able to follow instructions and procedures

· Excellent ability to read and listen to assignments given in a variety of forms.

· Able to understsand blue prints.

· Excellent ability to fabricate parts within scale and scope that may not be clearly aligned.

· Takes pride in work.

· Able to work at a fast pace.

· Flexibility to work in other departments.

Education and Experience

· High school diploma or GED required; technical training or certification in machine operation is a plus.

· Operation of a Mazak Laser, preferred but not required.

Physical Requirements

· Must have enough manual dexterity and stability as required for precision work.

· Must be able to see details at close range.

· Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.

· Must be able to read work instructions and drawings.

· Must be able to work at a fast pace.

· Must be able to traverse facilities and machinery by lifting, walking, bending, twisting and carrying materials.
