This role provides leadership and strategic oversight for a payments platform engineering team, focusing on delivering scalable, high-quality software that meets business and customer needs. The Engineering Manager will guide a diverse group of software engineers, foster a culture of collaboration and continuous learning, and ensure engineering best practices across the development lifecycle. This position collaborates closely with product, UX, DevOps, QA, and cross-functional stakeholders to translate business and strategic objectives into actionable projects. Success in this role is measured by the team’s cohesion, technical excellence, and ability to deliver reliable, innovative solutions on schedule. Accountabilities:
  • Recruit, mentor, and develop a high-performing, diverse engineering team, promoting a culture of collaboration, trust, and continuous learning
  • Drive engineering excellence by implementing best practices, ensuring code quality, scalability, and maintainability across the platform
  • Collaborate with product managers, designers, and stakeholders to prioritize roadmap items, manage risks, and align on deliverables
  • Oversee technical projects, providing architectural guidance, breaking down complex problems, and advocating for data-informed decision-making
  • Support software releases and operational processes in partnership with DevOps, QA, and support teams
  • Contribute to long-term technical strategy and represent engineering in cross-functional strategic discussions
  • Promote Agile methodologies and process improvements to enhance team productivity and efficiency

Requirements:

  • BS in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field; advanced degree preferred
  • 5+ years designing, building, and deploying scalable, cloud-based web applications
  • 2–3 years leading engineering teams with strong mentoring, coaching, and people management skills
  • Proficiency in frontend technologies, API development, and SQL-based databases such as PostgreSQL or MySQL
  • Strong knowledge of software architecture, design patterns, SOLID principles, and scalable system design
  • Experienced in recruiting, retaining, and developing diverse and inclusive engineering teams
  • Skilled in conflict resolution, fostering trust, and promoting psychological safety within teams
  • Strong strategic planning, prioritization, and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with Agile (Scrum/Kanban) and LEAN product development methodologies
  • Excellent communication, problem-solving, and documentation skills
