How you will make an impact:
As a Technical Designer, you will play a key role in developing innovative and secure currency designs that protect against counterfeiting and ensure public trust. You will collaborate closely with micro-optic designers, software developers, and manufacturing teams to translate complex designs into production-ready data. Your work will directly influence the quality, manufacturability, and security of advanced currency features. Through precision, creativity, and collaboration, you will help maintain the integrity of currency used around the world.
Work with a team of micro-optic designers and software developers to create data used in the manufacturing of micro-optics
Be responsible for the layout of production data used in the manufacturing environment, ensuring accuracy and efficiency
Work directly with internal customers to understand requirements and ensure final products meet specifications
Provide feedback to the micro-optic design team on design rule violations and to software developers on bugs or needed features
Perform quality inspections of digital designs and physical samples to ensure high quality and manufacturability
Maintain accurate, up-to-date drawings and technical documentation
Scale prototype designs to full production while meeting manufacturing standards
Support research and manufacturing teams on next-generation micro-optic development and continuous improvement initiatives
Knowledge and expertise that matter most for this role:
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or a related field, or equivalent experience
0–2 years of relevant work experience
Experience working with both raster and vector graphics formats
Experience with design rule checking (DRC)
Ability to work with precision in a manufacturing-driven design environment
U.S. Citizenship with the ability to maintain suitability for employment in a Public Trust position
Preferred:
Experience with Blender
Experience using CAD software
Experience with hierarchical layout or mask layout tools
Programming or scripting experience (Matlab, Python, Ruby)
Ability to learn new software and work autonomously
