About This Position
The Academic Advising Office, Center for Student Success, at Elizabethtown College is seeking a twelve-month full-time Assistant Director of Academic Advising.
The primary purpose of this position is to assist with the administration of the College's Academic Advising Program and maintain effective communication with the involved parties to ensure needs are being met.
Job Duties:
- Develop and implement developmental advising training programs for faculty and staff
- Develop and implement one week summer bridge course for incoming students to boost/build success skills. This program may expand in future years to address timely needs.
- Develop and implement advising programs for diverse student populations including transfer students, academic recovery students, undecided/exploring students, and enhanced advising students
- Maintain regular office hours, not to conflict with teaching responsibilities, and address advising questions and concerns of individual students, advisors, faculty and staff
- Coordinate efforts in advising with academic departments, schools, and resource offices
- Develop and implement programs to assess the impact of academic advising services and other campus advising efforts on student learning and success
- Develop and implement programs for Academic Standing Committee probation and contract recovery students
- Design and teach an Enhanced Advising first-year seminar, one section in fall and one section in spring per year
- Act as a member of the summer schedule-building team to create schedules for all incoming first-year students and transfer students
- Participate in summer and August New Student Orientation (NSO) as a First Year Seminar instructor/advisor and as a member of the Academic Advising, Center for Student Success, team member
- Participate as a member of the Center for Student Success team in Admissions Open House and Accepted Student Day events
- Assist with the coordination of outreach for the Starfish system on campus, including participation in weekly Starfish Review meetings and semester Academic Progress Survey follow-up.
- Serve on various committees, including Campus Wellness Network, Academic Standing Committee, FYE Committee, and Retention Committee
- Other duties as assigned
Required Qualifications:
A master’s degree; plus two to three years of experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience is required.
