About This Position

Position Description: Responsible for direction of the daily program and activities for the designated Child Development Center classroom. Such direction shall be in accordance with Kansas Department of Health and Environment and CACFP guidelines. The Lead Care Provider will work with college students, parents and children on a daily basis in order to meet the goals, objectives, intent and mission of the Child Development Center. Position Responsibilities: 10.00% - Maintain center equipment and supplies, assisting with inventory and purchasing consumable supplies. 52.00% - Oversee planning and implementation of program/daily activities for the class in according the policies and philosophies of the Child Development Center. 18.00% - Maintain childrens attendance records, meal records according to the CACFP guidelines, and childrens records according to Kansas Department of Health and Environment guidelines. 10.00% - Maintain record of ongoing evaluation of developmental levels of the children in the classroom. 5.00% - Attend staff meetings, training programs, conferences, and/or courses for professional development. 5.00% - Performs other duties as needed or assigned. Expectations: To maintain and increase enrollment of children at the Child Development Center. To provide classroom care of children and support for Child Development Center program in line with institutional priorities and to assure a safe learning environment for Child Development Center children and Early Childhood students. To ensure performance reviews completed within 2 weeks of the due date. To maintain a professional work environment and businesslike appearance. Demonstrated commitment to the highest ethical standards of professional practice, as well as personal and professional integrity. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: Experience - Six months to two years of similar or related experience. Education - A high school education or GED. Interpersonal Skills - Courtesy, tact, and diplomacy are essential elements of the job. Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the college, generally regarding routine matters for purposes of giving or obtaining information which may require some discussion. Other Skills - A high school education or GED. Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Child Care preferred. Six months to two years experience working in a licensed child care center. An understanding of child development and developmentally appropriate practices. A basic understanding of the KDHE licensing and regulating process. Current CPR and First Aid cards preferred. Physical Requirements: The work requires moderate physical exertion such as long periods of standing, repetitively lifting lightweight objects with frequent bending or stooping, recurring lifting of moderately heavy items such as computer, printers,or record boxes. Occasionally lifts heavy objects (over 50 pounds). Job requires average agility and dexterity.

Regular exposure to unfavorable environments such as: body fluids and industrial chemicals. Employees may be required to use personal protective equipment such as masks, coats, gowns, boots, goggles, gloves, or shields.

Wages/Other:

The starting hourly wage for this position is $14.38 to $16.06.
