About This Position
Job Summary: The Copywriter, Marketing and Communications is a conceptually driven storyteller who helps shape the voice of the WMCHealth brand across every platform. This role blends strategic insight, creativity, and craft to transform ideas into compelling copy that connects with audiences — from patients and physicians to employees and community partners — throughout the Hudson Valley.
Reporting to the Senior Creative Director, the Copywriter collaborates closely with art directors, project managers, and strategists to develop and execute integrated campaigns spanning digital, print, video, and social media. The ideal candidate has a versatile writing range — able to move seamlessly from long-form storytelling and patient features to sharp, engaging headlines, manifestos, and social content.
This role also contributes to the broader communications needs of the organization, occasionally developing press releases, digital and social media copy, and technical collateral that support both marketing and enterprise-wide initiatives. The Copywriter should bring strong editorial instincts, an appreciation for design, and a passion for clear, human-centered communication that reflects the mission and values of WMCHealth. Someone who sees language as a creative instrument — not just a tool — and who uses emerging technologies like AI to enhance efficiency, not replace imagination.
Responsibilities:
• Work with art directors, strategists, and marketing partners to develop ideas and stories that power integrated campaigns across digital, print, video, and social channels. Contribute from early concept through final execution, helping ensure every message feels clear, creative, and true to the brand.
• Take medical and wellness information and turn it into writing people can relate to. Bring warmth and accuracy to every message — from explaining advanced treatments to telling stories that highlight compassion, expertise, and care across the Hudson Valley.
• Write for a variety of formats — from patient features and educational materials to short, high-impact pieces for ads, social media, and video. Use storytelling to make complex ideas meaningful and easy to act on.
• Help shape and protect the WMCHealth brand voice. Write headlines, campaign copy, and content that are consistent, clear, and human — and that feel right for the audience and medium.
• Support both marketing and broader communications needs by writing press releases, executive messages, newsletters, and technical materials. Make sure every piece is accurate, easy to read, and aligned with the WMCHealth brand.
• Partner with colleagues across marketing, communications, and creative — and with hospital teams and outside vendors — to keep projects moving smoothly. Participate in reviews, give and receive feedback, and help make sure everything we produce works together as one voice.
• Edit and refine copy for clarity, tone, and grammar. Hold a high standard for every word that carries the WMCHealth name — work that’s thoughtful, accurate, and grounded in empathy.
• Stay curious about language, culture, and new ways of connecting with people. Explore emerging tools, including AI, to enhance creative thinking and keep our work fresh, relevant, and forward-looking.
