JOB DESCRIPTION: Seasonal Accountant Assistant
REPORTS TO: Director of Finance
LOCATION: Steamboat Springs
STATUS: Non-exempt
JOB SUMMARY: The Accounting Assistant provides professional accounting and administrative support to the Accounting Department during the Spring and Summer season. This role focuses on accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, and system support while assisting with basic journal entries under the direction of senior accounting staff. The position requires strong attention to detail, discretion, and the ability to learn and effectively use hospitality and financial systems. This is a hybrid role with a mandatory 1 day per week working in the Steamboat Springs office to handle depositing checks and sorting the office mail.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Support credit card and cash reconciliation processes in accordance with established accounting procedures.
• Utilize Track Hospitality Software to assist generating work orders and support owner billing processes.
• Reconcile vendor invoices to owner billings within Track Hospitality Software and assist with bill payment processing in Sage Intacct.
• Track time and departmental allocations using daily task trackers and preparing supporting schedules to assist with basic payroll-related journal entries.
• Assist with pulling, reviewing, and validating payroll-related reports from timekeeping systems and provide administrative-only support for payroll processing through Paychex Flex, as directed.
• This position has no payroll approval or authorization authority.
• Maintain organized financial records and supporting documentation in compliance with company policies.
• Provide cross-functional support to accounting and operational teams and demonstrate a willingness to learn new systems and processes.
DESIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCES:
Qualifications: Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university, or one to two years of related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Computer skills required: QuickBooks, Property Management System (Track), Microsoft Office, Project Management Software, CRM (SalesForce), MS Excel reports
• Ability to interact positively with supervisor, management, coworkers, members, and the public to promote a team effort and maintain a positive and professional approach.
• Ability to come to work regularly and on time, to follow directions, to take criticism, to get along with co-workers and supervisors, to treat co-workers, supervisors and guests with respect and courtesy, and to refrain from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior.
Ability to use the following communication tools: Telephone, Text Messaging, Email, Company Networking programs
