About This Position
BCHN, is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant, to ensure the accuracy and integrity of financial transactions, reporting, and compliance activities for our new FQHC – Federal Qualified Health Center in the Bronx.
Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) was founded in 1996 to ensure that the socio-economically depressed and medically underserved residents of the Bronx have access to high-quality and comprehensive healthcare services, Bronx Community Health Network (BCHN) is a not-for-profit, community-based organization and Federally Qualified Health Center. The organization provides a wide range of comprehensive, coordinated primary medical, oral, and mental health care and related diagnostic, pharmacy, social support, and enabling services for medically underserved/uninsured residents.
BCHN’s mission is to improve the health of people and families in the Bronx; provide access to affordable, quality health care, especially for uninsured people; promote disease prevention, early treatment and healthful lifestyles; and obtain financial and other resources for programs and services. BCHN’s service area includes the entire borough of the Bronx, including all 25 zip codes. Within this area, Health Center sites focus on the low-income and underserved populations.
About the Role: The Sr. Accountant is responsible for the preparation and analysis of financial statements, network reports, preparation and monitoring business plans. The ideal candidate will be responsible for financial planning, analysis, and reporting to guide the company's financial decisions. The Senior Accountant work closely with the Finance team, this individual leads activities for various accounting functions, including but not limited to, general ledger maintenance, financial analysis, budgeting, and audit preparation.
Responsibilities:
- Prepare schedules and documentation for the monthly close and annual audit.
- Record all payroll and payroll related entries.
- Reconcile Payroll, operating and all bank accounts.
- Record and reconcile all 403BK and deduction transactions.
- Oversee the 403B payments and downloads.
- Maintain fixed assets and calculate and record depreciation monthly.
- Prepare monthly journal entries as needed.
- Prepare and record prepaid schedules and amortization, monthly.
- Monthly analysis and reconciliation of general ledger accounts.
- Prepare monthly accruals.
- Prepare bank reconciliations.
- Prepare schedules for the annual audit.
- Help prepare schedules for UDS reporting.
- Prepare reports as needed
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance or accounting. (required)
- 5- 7 Years as a Sr. Accounting experience.
- Strong knowledge of financial principles, practices, and regulations
- Excellent analytical skills with attention to detail for accurate reporting.
- Computer experience and expertise is necessary. Strong Excel skills a must.
- The senior accountant must be highly motivated, can work independently and as a team member.
- Accuracy and organizational skills must be demonstrated.
- Analytical skills, experience and good judgment in making decisions related to finance.
- The senior accountant must adhere to the agency’s policy, procedures and professional code of ethics.
- The senior accountant must follow all applicable laws, financial principles and practice
- High level ability using Microsoft Excel- able to prepare pivot tables and do V-lookup calculations
- Fund-ez accounting software (preferred)
- FQHC experience a plus.
Knowledge and Skills
- The senior accountant must have a proficient knowledge of non-profit accounting and excel.
- The senior accountant will have the ability to work independently on projects, from conception to completion, and must be able to work under pressure at times to handle a wide variety of activities.

Salary: Compensation based on skills; experience $80,000 - $100,000 annually
The final determination of salary, within this range, will depend on the candidate’s education, skills and experience required for the position.
This role is hybrid, requiring three (3) days per week in the office. The remaining two (2) days may be worked remotely. Specific in-office days will be discussed during the interview process, with flexibility to align with team needs. Please note that the number of required in-office days may be adjusted over time, potentially increasing the number of required in-office days based on business needs.
