Quality Technician at Custom Processing Services Inc. – Reading, Pennsylvania
About This Position
Summary:
In this is a critical role to our manufacturing process and shift team, the Quality Technician will be the primary release agent for all production on the shift. This is completed through a review of data and documentation in comparison to the customer agreement, and the interface with the inventory release software. Additionally, this role may support QC (in process) testing of production jobs, perform internal audits, and new product development tasks.
Accountable Functions:
- Performs the assigned task with a high level of safety in mind, both personal and group safety considerations.
- Assures that manufactured products meet customer requirements by testing, analyzing production data and documentation, and confirming post-production samples.
- Provides production support by analyzing non-conforming materials, in process production, and returned goods, and communicates results to management.
- Creates suitable data analysis tables and reports. Analyzes data and generates summary reports including Certificates of Analysis, Process Yields, etc. and submits to customer
- Provides analytical investigations and develops root cause for non-conformances and deviations.
- Operates gauging and test equipment for quality assurance functions including calibration, troubleshooting, and preventative maintenance
- Assists in the performance of qualification and validation studies.
- Prepares samples for shipment to customers
- Manages the organization, supply inventory, and cleanliness of the laboratory and sample storage areas.
- Reviews incoming receipts against QDoc-01 requirements (customer requirements).
- Perform product release per Qdoc-01 requirements.
- Perform inspections; Assist on special projects.
- Openly communicates and shares learnings and information to the shift team in an effort to achieve group achievement.
- Tracks and communicates results of departmental metrics
- Performs any other work or task as assigned
Required Qualifications:
- High level of Safety consciousness in performing work and following policies
- High level of Quality integrity in performing work and following instructions
- Preference and ability to work extended shifts (twelve hours)
- High level of attention to detail
- Ability to work alone and stay on task without direct supervision (self-supervise)
- Previous experience in manufacturing, specifically in plant tactical Quality functions preferred
- Post high school education preferred
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
- High proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- High level of Critical thinking in decision making
- Excellent communication skills – both written and oral – and be able to maintain professionalism in communications
- Lean or 5S experience preferred

Work Environment (estimated averages): Laboratory (60%) Manufacturing (30%) Office (10%)
Travel Requirements: Limited, less than 2% Potential to travel to client sites for customer satisfaction activities Potential to travel to vendor sites for process and equipment learning
