About This Position
Job Title: Process Tech I / Packager / QC Tech Floater Position
Summary Cross trains between PT I, Packager, and QC Tech positions. PT I operates the mixing machine to blend ingredients into compounds for processing and ensures totes, drums, and pallets are cleaned and sanitized. Packager verifies quality, quantity, and labeling of products ready for shipment. QC Tech tests and inspects products at various stages of production process and complies and evaluates statistical data to determine and maintain food quality and reliability of products.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Process Tech I
- Verifies ingredients prior to mixing batches.
- Loads ingredients into mixing tank or blender.
- Starts machine and adjusts valves or devices in mixing chamber to aid in blending and densifying mixture.
- Operates machine until mixture reaches desired consistency, and turns lever to unload mixture into kettles, pick system, totes, drums, and/or hopper.
- Cleans and sanitizes mixing tanks, kettles, pick system, pumps, pipes, blender, and/or hopper.
- Cleans and sanitizes totes, drums and blue pallets.
- Removes all standing water from the rooms using a squeegee or other available cleaning tool.
- Cleans designated work areas.
- Assists with tote and pallet repairs.
Packager
- Ensures correct box type, box liners and packing methods are used.
- Assembles boxes and affixes labels on packaging.
- Examines packs, cups, or bottles and contents of items for conformance to customer specifications.
- Palletize boxes onto correct pallets to follow customer specifications.
QC Tech
- Collects the production paperwork.
- Verifies the production room has been sanitized and swabbed.
- Selects products for tests at specified stages in production process, and tests products for variety of qualities such as dimensions, performance and chemical characteristics
- Records test data, applying statistical quality control procedures.
- Recommends modifications of existing food quality or production standards to achieve optimum food quality within limits of equipment capability.
- Assures compliance to all applicable regulatory agencies including USDA, FDA, Bureau of Weights and Measures, State and Local regulations.
- Maintains current HACCP plan of both USDA and FDA products.

Education and/or Experience
High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
Language Skills
Must be able to speak, read and write in English. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions and procedure manuals.
Mathematical Skills
Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
Reasoning Ability
Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form.
Computer Skills
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have basic knowledge of computers and the ability to input data into a computer.
